At about 600 miles on my CX5 I noticed an irritating vibration in the left side dash. It would only happen over roads with closely packed bumps, like on heavily patched roads, or on speed bumps. It also happened on snow packed roads. Living in a rural area I had plenty of these conditions. About a month later I went back to the dealer (100 miles away). Of course, they could not replicate the vibration on smooth city roads.
I spent the next few months searching the internet for fixes but nothing worked. Finally, I stumbled on a Madza 6 forum. A simple fix was posted that involved stuffing a cotton ball between the telescoping steering column lever and the side plastic on the column. It worked! It seems the lever was vibrating. Strangely, the vibration was being transmitted to the dash corner area. Apparently, the Madza 6 and CX5 use the same steering column.
Mazda needs to address this.
