LED's

hahaha, dude i saw a pro 5 with it from the fender it started and ended at the rear door.
it said love, speed, and power....jk iono it doesnt matter what it said but its exhaust was the size of a whale penis

Does anybody even have their car all LED'd up? Are they bright enough? How many LEDs on the bulb were used in tails/stop to be near oem, you can get all kind of different bulbs with different number of LEDs in them. Can we get a little more specific with this because their are like 5 or more types of each bulb? Like I used the 24 LED wide angle Red 7443s for tail/stop & 24 LED 7440 red wide angle for the other parking light in the tail & 24 LED wide angle superwhite 7440 for reverse & 24 LED wide angle amber 7440s for the blinkers etc etc etc......I'm thinkin of tryin out some of the 1156/1157s/ba9s/194s in my truck before doing the car. BTW, the auto parts selection is slim pickens & from what I've seen & you won't be scoring a full set without driving all around to different places if even then.

From what I've seen, keep your stock bulbs in the brake lights. LED's just aren't bright enough in the halogen reflector.

I have been wanting to get a set of Altezas, whatever color, to do a full LED retrofit, sorta like the Infiniti SUV

Yup LED has really narrow light pattern so you would need a lot of them spread around to act light halogen. Those direct replacement LED for brake light and stuff isn't going to be safe on the reflector housing because people can only see it from certain angle. Plus it is very easy to get wash out by the sunlight.

i can't say. I havn't had the extra $$ To spend on em, so, i have yet to see comparison pics.

I'm just gonig off what i HAVE seen and so far all the LED bulbs in reflector housings have not been bright enough

Order those and install one and lets see some comparison shots!

Trying it out on the krazy ass truck first. lol. 27 yr old toyota prerunner with 400k on the clock with led lighting. All LED except headlights. They should work even better on the car because the housings are chrome. The ones on the truck are just silver, but they are smaller. we'll see how it goes. The license plate 194s I already put in look all cool & glowing. Also found some 5 lamp ba9s to do the front corner markers too. Did order the 6 lamp red dome light & 6 lamp white cargo for the car. Pics to come after I get all the stuff..................

I was going to do LED tail/brake lights, but I couldn't bring myself to spend that much money on those little bulbs. Superbright is a good website, and I have the LED license plate lights too. Love 'em.

OK, here's the skinny minus the pics. This is on the 82 toyota truck. Did superwhite 4 led 194s in the front rear sidemarkers-bueno. Did superwhite single led 194s in the license plate lights-bueno. Superwhite 32 led 1156s in reverse lights-bueno. Didn't find any ba89s for the front clear parking lights beside headlights but tried a superwhite 32 led 1156 in them since the socket was same & these suckers were like having foglights instead of parking lights-crazy but I liked them & left them in. Headlights looked yellow & dim in comparison but had flim on them from not being clean because of rock guards blocking wiping them easily. Superwhite 32 led 1156s in blinkers made them a bit greenish compared to normal & slightly dimmer-not so bueno. Now, the 32 led 1157s in the tail/brake light were slightly dimmer but as had been stated would be worse in sunlight. Not really likin those. These comparisons done in closed windowless garage & after dark from 30-40 ft away. I do have silver painted housings on tails (27 yr old truck). I'm going to mod the housing by using silicone for glue & sticking aluminum foil in them for better reflection & see if it helps. If not then there are more options for brighter 1156s & 1157s that will be tried. Didn't get any 7440s or 7443s to try on the P5 yet but we have newer more reflective housings & they should work a little better than on my dingy truck taillight housings. Also gonna test out the 4 led 194s for map lights in the P5. Single led license plate lights are plenty bright & mucho flourescento looking too, like on Lexii. More to come..................

edit - colored LEDs are best for clear lenses & will be dimmer than superwhite in colored lenses.

i know the sites, i just need the bulb number
7440s are tail & reverse. 7443s are brake/tail. 194s are side markers in front bumper & map lights.....Isn't there a bulb chart in this thread back up top? Somewhere in here there's a list of them, maybe in another thread.

edit - yes, see post #8 pg 1 of this thread & put in yr & all that s*** & it'll give ya the complete list.

yea the sylvania replacement chart thing? im familiar with it..

i do believe it says my plate light is 1157 or something along those lines
how ever there is no such 1157 led.
there is 194 and there are a couple on www.superbrightleds.com that go WHP-x-x that look like theyll fit. but no confirmation... i think 194 is the route ill go. just hopin some1 will say "hey yes 194 will fit into our plate lights"
