Following on from yesterday's news that SBS have announced the identities of the three presenters of the Australian Top Gear series, there's now a short bio available at the SBS website for each of them.

At a cursory glance, it looks as if the popular opinion at the moment may still be the right one: these guys appear to have the goods. Of course, a solid background doesn't necessarily make for the right on-screen chemistry, but only time can answer that one. Will these three lads become household names in the homes of car enthusiasts around Oz?

Check them out here:

Here's a question for our readers: What nicknames will these three come up with for each other? Over time, May's picked up the Captain Slow moniker, and Hammond has been christened with the perfectly suited Hamster title, and well, oddly, I can't recall if Clarkson's got a nickname! But if you had to pick a nickname for the Aussie presenters, what would they be?

Australian Top Gear is going to be badass. I hope the first episode is full of utes getting the bejeesus hooned out of them.

The only person confirmed for Top Gear US is Adam Carolla. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I never knew he was much of a car guy.

Damn, missed that one. I'm very ambivalent. On the one hand, it would've been sweet to have a show like Top Gear featuring cars I could (theoretically) go out and buy. On the other hand, I'm happy, because there's no way it'd be anything like the "real" Top Gear.

I wonder if we'll get Aussie Top Gear in any medium other than the Int4rwebz. If anyone's going to cane the piss out of a car properly, it'd be the Australians.

im totally glad if american top gear isnt happening.

one of my favorite parts about the real top gear is listening to them make fun of americans.
