Larger Throttle body's

I wanna know who has experience with larger throttle body's. I want to know how they respond.

yes, they only will really help horsepower on higher output applications. The increased flow of a 60mm TB vs stock 55mm TB is almost nothing on a N/A motor. Now, if you are FI, then it'd help even more. Then it'd be worth it.

does anyone think it would be worth replacing the throttle body if you have high compression and the other mods in my sig? i was even thinking port matching the intake manifold too, what do you guys think about that?

I don't think it would be enough to notice. In fact, I think you actually LOSE throttle response with a larger TB. BTW, what kind of weight reduction have you done?

I think Nick at MPI was looking to do a job on an intake manifold for an N/A. Give him a call at the shop - 732-222-3679. You could also use his MPI tuner to free up some additional power in your n/a setup.

i only want to do the throttle body if i can do the intake manifold at the same time. as for weight reduction, i have taken out the a/c and everything to do with that, same with the power steering, took out cruise control, stripped all of the sound deadening material from under the carpet (its not as loud as you may think) and had custom lightweight bumper reinforcements made. hey micah as for the mpi tuner, i would love to but its gonna have to wait till spring. just dumped about $1000 bucks into the p5 this month

Well, there is no reason you can't go ahead and get a larger throttle body. But if I were you I would first look into the intake manifold as I am fairly sure that most of the restriction in the runners - is in fact - in the runners.

I'm interested to see what you come up with.

depending on the level of N/A modification a larger diameter TB can benefit. TOO large of course will hurt and effect more then that of F/I applications but i'd still help but like i said the level of modification would have to be moderate to high (i.e. high compression pistons, cams, port/polish, etc.) to reap the most benefits. hate to say it but if the honda boys can benefit from larger TB's still on N/A apps then it can surely help us. obviously the engine and layout is different but the basic ideas are there. the B16 and B18 engines have decent sized TB's from stock too so an excuse "stock ones are small anyway" wouldn't hold much ground.
