larger rotors

i already read the protege faq and it was said there that i could get rotors from an old 626 (good thing there's a lot of surplus of that here) that are 10.5" compared to the measly 9.3" that my 3rd gen currently has. i'm not sure if it was implied in the FAQ but i'd like to know if 10.5" rotors would fit in my stock 15" rims.

also, my car uses four lugs. i'm thinking of getting a rear disc conversion. it's easier for us over here since the 2002 model comes with rear discs. i'd like to know if there are larger rotors for the rear too. did the v6 version of the 626 come with rear rotors? if possible, i'd like to get surplus parts from an older car as well. would rear rotors for 2nd gens or 1st gens be usable? 3rd gen surplus parts are hard to find here and that's the reason i'm asking.

I can answer about one of your questions; Yes, the 626 V6 came with rear disks. =) The conversion is going to be a bit a of a bear, but it'll be well worth it. Four wheel disks kick ass. =)

Oh, also, the 15" wheels should be fine, as the 626 came stock with 15's. =)

Oh wait a minute! Doesn't the 626 use PCD114 for its rims? The stock ones on my pro are PCD100. Is there going to be a problem with this?

Hmm... Not sure what the spacing is on the lugs, really... It's probably 114.3x5 rather than the 100x4... So you may have to swap rims, too. Not sure. And I'm really not sure if the rotors and hubs are compatable... Which car are you driving, exactly?

3rd gen. should be the equivalent of the LX since it's a 1.6L. dang. if i have to swap rims i'd just go with the newer 5 lugs on the 2.0L model here... ugh but that means brand new.. aaaarrrggghhh i was hoping i could go surplus on this one.

anyone have other suggestions?

man i wanna go back to the philippines. . ....lol i could bring you my "old" set of rims when icause im going with 17's when i get new tires in like 2 months. . .hopefully they last like 3 or 4 thousand more miles. . .caue i need them to last though my raod trip to NY. .. ..lets hope it doesn't snow with me going up there on balding tires

Ohh, you're in the Philippines. =) How cheap is Mazdaspeed stuff there? ;) I need a set of springs and struts for my P5. ;)

rr racing has a front rotor upgrade that keeps the stock calipers. Must have 16" or bigger wheels to use them.

flat_black,

stuff are cheap for the gen1 and gen 2 here since there are a lot of surplus and replacement parts. for the gen3 it generally costs an arm and a leg since proteges are ford-badged here.

oh wait is there a 1st gen mazdaspeed? hehehe.

anyway even if some stuff are cheaper here, shipping costs would leave the total balance way over what you would normally pay over there

lol there is a first gen gtx and gtr. which run high 12's stock. owned ;) i want a gtx front bumper if u could find one :-p

Let's wait a bit and I might be able to show you a Gen 2 doing 12s.. it isn't stock, though. A fellow club member is still undergoing his BPD swap. Damn I want that engine.
