Hey, just wondering the difference between led and neon for underbody lights. The led seems to be brighter maybe, but doesn't look as nice up close?

(Trying to find a pink set for the wife for christmas hehe. Help me out?)

I hear LEDs are better. I believe they are brighter and last longer. I dont think either of them consumes much power.

LEDs will not break nearly as easily as a neon will. I'd definitely go with LEDs if they're going outside of the car.

LED's are brighter but the neons light up more of the road surface. LED's are like a mini-flashlight and only send the light in one direction but neons are a gas filled tube, thus sending light 360 degrees which delivers a better visual effect on the ground.

They're both durable but LED's may last longer.

Cool, thanx for the info. Also wondering if there is a freezing point or they won't be as bright if exposed to -30(ish) degrees celsius

Anyone have any pics maybe (led vs neon?) Best place to buy?(Canada)

Neons do not hold up as well in cold climates. When temps drop, the gas in the neon tubes does not travel very well and sometimes will not illuminate until it warms up.

Many people who have underbody kits remove them in the winter because snow banks and ice can crack the plexi casing and are expensive to replace.

Since you are in Canada, I would definitely recommend the LED kit for you and think about removing them in the winter months. With the LED kits, most of them allow you to changed colors, they can pulse to music, fade in and out, etc. (can't do that with neon).

Here in the states you can find OPTIX underbody kits in almose all of the automotive parts stores like Autozon, Pep-boys, Advance auto, etc. I even saw them in Circuit City.

Good luck.

I'm pretty sure LED's won't be affected by temperature. They might actually be more efficient at lower temps.

I like the look of neons better, as stated before they light up the surface more, but more importantly they light it up evenly. I noticed the LED's I've seen are more like a bunch of little dots lighting the road then one even light. Hope that made sense.

Dont do LEDS ... they might be brighter (but its only in a focused area) .. the neons will be overall more visible and brighter. Go with Street Glow Gold Series and you wont be disappointed.
