KYB-Brilliant!!!

2010 Mazda5 Sport
Installed the KYB Gas-a-Just's on the rear of the wife's '10, kind of a pain but not too bad. They replaced the 80 thou mile O.E. shocks which the forum advised me were worn out. I went for these because we travel loaded a lot and I wanted a heavy duty rear shock. Also 'cause the Koni's and Bilstein's were a little out of my financial reach. It didn't hurt that KYB has a rebate on their shocks this month (although I didn't find that out until after I bought them, actually...).

Took it out for a test drive; yes! I was afraid they were going to ride too hard because they are advertised as 'Sports' shocks but no worries. They ADSORB bumps and potholes rather than ricochet off the top of them like the stockers. Still a bit stiff, no Cadillac ride but with the amount of junk we travel with a little stiff is good.

I noticed that the jerky hobby-horse pitching of the stock shocks to wash-board bumps has improved drastically; now it smoothly slides up and down, a huge improvement. Handling seems a bit better, too; hard to tell as I haven't had time to hit the back roads. Can't wait to install the GR-2's on the front!

Better yet the Supreme Commander has noticed the difference in ride/handling and highly approves. What more can you ask for?! I'm sure the Koni's or Bilstein's would be an even bigger improvement but not at twice the price...

To summarize the mods (so far); K&N filter, Cooper Zeon 215's (just on the front), '12 rear springs, KYB Gas-a-just on the rears and (coming soon) GR-2's struts, adjustable upper arms (rear), poly bushings on the swaybars.

Sliding-Door SportsCar indeed!

MazDin for shocking fun!

I put KYB Gas-A-Just shocks on the rear of my V70 and Koni Yellow adjustables on the front. The V70 is about 3700 lbs, so similar in weight, but wider and not as tall (and MUCH poorer steering) and am very happy.

If that is a road you have not considered....Koni does an annual sale around March where thorough shoppers should be able to score 30% off.
