Kuhmo Ecsta ASX!

Got a set of 215/40/17's last night. Wow. They are way better than the Ecsta 711's(my previous tire). They have a much better rim saver than the 711's The whole sidewall sits farther out than the rim, no taper inward towards the tread, so the tire looks (and is) much wider. On the road they are incredible. The most noticable is the noise....no road noise. They handling is great, turn in is good, wet traction is amazing. I was pushing the car hard in the rain last night and it acted no different than the old tires when it was dry. I lost my wheel hop problem also. :D The car also tracks alot better, no grabbing and pulling like I used to have. And I can accelerate without wheel hop/spin when the tires are cold and/or wet!! And they were only 91 bucks each.

The ECSTA ASX (ASX for All-Season Xtreme) is a member of Kumho's race-proven ECSTA high performance tire family. It is an Ultra High Performance All-Season tire that was developed to meet the needs of the drivers of sports cars, coupes and sedans by blending responsive handling with dry, wet and year-round traction, even in light snow.

On the outside, the ECSTA ASX molds a high technology silica and carbon tread compound into an asymmetric tread design that features large outside tread blocks for quick response and sporty handling with high volume circumferential and high angle slant grooves to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction. Constant contact center blocks help reduce noise while providing continuous road contact to improve straight-line stability. Internally, ECSTA ASX tires feature Kumho's Dynamic Casing Shape Technology that controls casing tension throughout the tire. This allows the ECSTA ASX to increase ride comfort by absorbing bumps and increase handling by remaining stable when cornering. ECSTA ASX tires feature twin, high-tensile steel belts with spiral-wrapped jointless cap and belt edge strips to stabilize the tread area enhancing handling, high-speed capability and ride quality while minimizing weight.

Cool! I'm rolling with the 712's currently (truly amazing in the rain), and when they wear out I was planning on trying the ASX's. Keep us updated! Later!
