KSport Kontrol Pros installed!

:
Mazdaspeed3, Mazda2 Yozora Ed., RX-8 R3
Anyone following a couple of other threads would know this was coming!

Got the ksports installed today, so I thought i'd post up some first impressions and of course, pics!

First impressions:

-Stiffer, tighter way less bounce than on the H&R springs.
-Cornering greatly improved. I can take moderately tight 90's a good 10KMH faster than before with no body roll and no loss of grip
-Body roll virtually gone.
-More 'detailed' ride. I can feel every bump but not like i felt it with the stiff springs. That was more like feeling the bumps through the 'body' of the car. This feels more like feeling the bumps through the suspension.
-The whole car feels tighter and more refined. The ride quality is now much closer to my R3 RX8 (which has Bilstien dampers)

I'll post up more detailed results, I've really only had a chance to drive it maybe 15kms since install. Tomorrow is a longer road trip (combined 3+ hrs of hwy and city) so I'll have a much better change to work them in.

Amusingly, I had them installed at my dealer. They offered me a price that was better than I could have bought jackstands and a jack for. They did outstanding work and did it quick.

Here's the amusing part. The service manager came in and asked me how much drop I wanted over OEM. I said let's go to -1.75" from stock. The tech heard -1.75" from CURRENT which was already -1.5". The service manager asked me into the shop to come take a look and they had me like SLAMMED. They tech couldn't even get his fist between the floor and my bumper.

At any rate, they brought it up an inch so I'm sitting at -2" from stock right now!

And now, what you've all been waiting for: crappy cell phone Pics!

As a side note, I'll probably be selling my H&R springs soon. Food for thought!

Wish the El Paso Mazda dealer was as customer orientated!!! that front looks tucked.. did you have to do anything to the plastic fender? any rubbing? Please review thuroughly!! goods and bads!!! i'm saving for this kit.

Could've installed that for you for a 6 pack and a pack of smokes ;).

But that does look very good though. First on coils with 16's, and it looks pretty nice.. if I do say so myself. Have any pics of it when it was "SLAMMED"?

You coming to MOM? It'd be nice to have 2 deuce's lowered on KSports side by side ;)

I was going to try but a family 'emergency' has come up and i wont be able to make it :-/

If I had known! we could have had an interesting day ;-)

I love my dealer. They're very good to me.

No pics of it slammed. In hindsight I probably should have. It actually looked kind aawkward. You'd need to go with 17's i think.. fill the well out a bit better. When I say slammed, I'm talking like, couldn't hardly get one finger between the fender and the rubber.

I'll post up a better review when I've had some more time on the car!

Damnnn, that's a shame. We'll have to try to get as many local 2's to meet up as soon as possible.

Yeah man, I tried to post up in your other thread, but I guess you didn't see it in time.. had a free day too. If you ever need any help with the car, let me know. I have a compressor and a good amount of tools at my house.. plus a niceee and cold fridge for beers too ;)

Lol so cute.. I'm on 15's and tire is tucked. Though it didn't start out like that, it was close to an inch higher all around when I first installed it.

You'll probably get addicted to the low.. they all get addicted to the low.......

Thanks!

I'm actually really happy with the bit of extra drop. I liked it at -1.5, but at -2 it's really nice looking.

I think I'm going to have to tear off that lower front skirt though, or my driveway is going to do it for me :-p

CRG Racer: this is good to know. What neighborhood are you in? I'm up by Bayview and Eg. I'm down for a few brake jobs oil changes accompanied by some beer. If you're ever up for a drive down to the KW area on a weekend I've got a pool and a smoker! I've got lots of tools, compressors etc..., but alas no jacks or jack stands or ramps. Nothing for getting the car up I'm afraid.

Looks really good that low.

I can't believe your dealership installed those that cheap! Mine wanted $180/CORNER to do my springs. It was just the motivation I needed to not be lazy and do them myself.

Wow, wow wow!

Now you need spacers! ;)

I'll put pics of mine when it will be clean, detailed and all... Got so much going on right now, I can't even wash my car...

I'm now tucking all 4 corners, on OEM 185/55... Still have more than enough travel, and front control arms are very close to be parallel with the ground.

Form AND Function. ;)

I am in love with my dealership... However I have to say that 7 cars purchased from them (two of them top end RX-8s) and the occasional delivery of muffins and wine to the service guys help a little ;-) I paid ~$500 including taxes and the alignment. I for sure got a couple free hours in there.

I'm really liking the look. Greensleeper your coils have definitely found a good home!

Been driving around TO on my normal route the last couple of days and the feel is really nice. The care really tracks the road surface much better now. It feels like a much more expensive car. I'm really happy. I'm not sure if i'd have been happier with the bilstiens or something like the H&R or Tien coils... but I know I"m really pleased with these!

Sounds like your place would be a great spot for a little mini meet for some 2's! Haha no pressure of course.

I have 2 jacks, and 4 stands so we'll be good. Brake jobs I'm fine with, as long as they are the front brakes. I am never touching rear drums again.. just so you know (bad experience with them before...). Also, I'm on the West end of Mississauga - 403/Dundas. It's probably like a good 40 mins for you to get to where I am from Bayview/Eglinton, but it's VERY easy to get to where I am. Actually, I do frequent the KW area as one of my good friends goes to Laurier there. So I'll be sure to let you know what's up!

Congrats and glad you like your Ksports. Even better deal at your dealer for installing them for such a low price. The dealer is usually were they **** you for a coilover install. Good dealer!
