Knock at part throttle!!!

I recently installed my dashawk and have been monitoring knock and have seen knock as high as 6 in 2nd gear! I usually get knock just driving around the city shifting from 1-2 or 2-3 I get the knock right around 2900-3300RPM's is this normal? WOT runs knock doesnt go over .6 My mods are SRI and recirulated BOV

Did you recheck the MAF sensor and ensure that it is seated properly? I know some knocking is normal, but you shouldn't be seeing it go as high as 6.
 
check that out but dont totally freak out. sometimes the ecu just advances timing so much in normal driving until the point of knock (to increase gas mileage and efficiency). If you're not at WOT..don't worry about it
 
This car is an embarassment with regards to the stock tune.....it's as if Mazda just learned EFI programming exists............stumbles, stutters, cuts, insufficient fuel pump, 9:1 AFRS....good Lord it's 2009. Is DISI *really* that challenging? This ain't the space shuttle.......

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled program.....

i've not had one of those issues from mile 1 to 17k...granted all i've had is a race pipe and intake. pretty close to stock. not one stumble, not one cut even down to almost 0* ambient temps, steady a/f.

mine must be special ; )
 
I've seem to have a perfect car as well, so its harder for me to relate to all these guys that are having knocking issues on pretty much just stock cars. I have heard that an aftermarket TMIC and or 1 step colder plugs can help eliminate knock. I can say that with those mods the car runs a lot smoother.
 
6 at part throttle seems like the norm.

I got as high as 8 or 9 pretty normally but I was fulled bolted without a tune and started freaking out so pulled parts off. Didn't really changed much. Couldn't get it below 5 so it could be normal.

I agree, try new plugs one step colder. One thing that works for MR2 turbo guys running higher boost (boost controlled or from supporting mods) is they run copper plugs with a specific gap. This gives them exceptional performance and reliability IF they are changed out every 5k miles or so. Just a thought.

This is what I'm seeing at part throttle with a stage 2 tune. I would wager most if not all stock cars would see this if they had a dh. The highest kr I've seen w/the AP at WOT is .7.....and that is very rare.
 
yea my partial throttle will get as high as 7.5, but normally its around 1.1. i get as high as 5.6 WOT but let off immediately.

i think its something else going on, dont think its the map, it dosent happen all the time, just randomly. im looking to wither the gas around here sucks ass, trying to find some better stations
 
I can't drive on the freeway without getting a DashHawk lightshow...Knock Retard seems to be a daily occurrence. From everything I've heard and read, it's completely normal for this car to get knock retard under partial throttle. I can't explain why...doesn't make sense to me...but there you go.
