Keyless Remote

I have had the keyless entry remote( two at that) since I got my p5 2 years ago. Well six months into it one keyless remote stopped working, so i used the second one then a month later that one stopped working.

I put new batteries in them( a year and a half after they stopped working) and nothing.

I would like to start using them again but I dont know why they are not working.

Any ideas???

since the battery was dead they lost there initialization, u have to reinitialize them. how i do not know how.

ah yea u have to reprogram it, theres a way to i do not know if off hand but i know if u use the search u can find it, pretty simple to do. DO NOT GO TO THE DEALERSHIP TO DO THIS! theyll charge u like $40 to do something u can for free. can someone help this man out?

follow this flowchart dude it's real easy. If it doesn't work I found a spare on ebay motors for $14. Don't pay extra for the programming instructions (they try to "sell" them to you). Since Flash broke copyright and posted them for you already. Don't worry print them out and if anyone asks me I'll blame him. We live in the same state so I know where to send the cops.

not to thread jack, but seeing as how this may be slightly similar, has anybody had the central locking mechanism stop working on them?

what doe sit mean when it says " push driver side door switch"
the driveside lock/unlock?

well I tried this and mine still doesn't work. I bought my car used about 2years ago and the jeyless remote never worked, then I saw this post and bougt new batteries and just fried this and it still doesn't work.
I saw some keyless remotes on ebay for $19.99 do you guys think this will work??

oh and also my rear passenger side door power lock gave out on me.

ok well like noell3 said, am I pushing the unlock side of the switch on the door or the lock side of the switch?

In the begining, first step... does that mean the car has to be on first? Or Can I just start by opening the driver side door?

i am going to guess it does not matter which one you push, but if pushing lock doesnt work try unlock, and if they both dont work try doing both (as in pushing lock then unlock which will = one push).

and no i do not think the car has to be on first since at the end of the explanation it says "end" so i just think start is just a general statement not a command lol. but if u want to try that i dont think it will hurt. so just start with having the key in the ignition and go from there.

i have never done this but i remember this post from way back so im really guessing here. best thing u can do is go out and try, youll get it eventually.

those are probably the ones I got. I offered $10 and got it for $14. Check it out a little to make sure, but they're not uncommon

LOL, OMG Flash, you've got this poor guy pushing the wrong button!! Here's the right button. It's the one on the pillar on the bottom right of the pic. It's black and covered by a rubber boot. Push that as you follow the instructions. When it says "on" it means the position that your key is in according to the ignition switch. Look at the switch and you will see the "on" position. DO NOT start your car- you will not turn it that far. This position is the one that ppl use to run their radio w/o starting the car.

Sorry Flash for busting your chops, but I just did this a week ago and when I saw you post the chart I thought that had it covered- till I remembered how I had to figure out which switch and reread the thread. The best part is:

NP dude. If this don't work and you changed the batteries, order a new (used) one from ebay.

I figured someone had to step in before Flash had you sticking your finger in a light socket. Oh btw he's from the eastern side of the state, us'n smart folks are from way out west by West virginia
