I had issues for the first week but it seems it was the way I was using it.
Be careful not to tap the start button multiple times in succession or push and hold the button for any length of time. The tech explained what that did. I believe there was a mention about it in the owner's manual, also. Even when starting the car, just quickly tap it and let it crank itself.
When getting out of the car and everything would turn off, I would quickly tap the button to turn everything on again if I was on a phone call or wanted to continue to listen to the radio. That's when I would see the "red key light", too. You can have the dealer programm the advanced key sequence so that tapping once turns the engine off but leaves the ACC position on and tapping again turns off accessory.
Since the tech reset the system, changed that setting, and explained the operation better, I haven't had any issues.
