i have the kenwood KDC-MP225. it is NOT the stock one the mp3 came with. My problem is that when my car is not running and only the stereo is on, it wnt play cds over volume 18, it just keeps shutting the stereo off and on repeatedly until i switch to radio or turn the volume down low. But when the car is actually running, stereo is all fine. Any ideas here? Stereo goin bad? Car battery goin bad? thanks

I happen to have lots of happy times with my Kenwood radios i've had over the years. It's just an opinion. Maybe some people have bad luck.

I'm sure there are some people out there who have good luck with Kenwood...but I hear enough complaints that I would rather buy a different brand.

Anyway, if you have a voltmeter, check the voltage of your battery with the car off. If it is below 12v then you need a new battery (It should be at 12.5-13.0). While you have the voltmeter out, check the voltage with the car on, it should be at 13.0-14.0 (usually 13.8 for a Protege). The head unit may not let you use the CD player if the voltage is below a certain level...but that's just a guess.

LOL....that is why I never buy Kenwood car audio.

I had a KENWOOD system in my camaro, a KENWOOD system in my stealth, have a KENWOOD system in my lightning now, and I think you can guess what kind of system will be in my MP3 if I buy one... (cabpatch)

I have been dealing with head-units/speakers/subs/amps etc. never had one problem. Whats next, are you going to tell me you buy solely Sony audio? (jerkit)
