does anyone have just a midpipe setup using the stock axleback exhaust? even better with the s pipe? how does it sound if u do and what gains did u get from it? was thinking about doing it since the money saved on the axleback portion would give me money for the s pipe. any info?

Thats the exact setup that im running. On the dyno I gained over 12whp by just removing the cats, and that was on stock boost, with no other mods. And I love the sound. Its not much different then stock, just a little deeper. But no rasp at all. But it depends on your goals. If you just want to free up some ponies, and you dont plan on running insane amounts of boost, it was a pretty good cheap mod.

I just hollowed my cats, its a really cheap way to get more horses. There is a Thread on using Spark Plug Fowlers ($5) to eliminate the CEL. I could immediatly tell a difference when i did it.

Just this weekend I had both cats cut out, and replaced the first with pipe, the second with a straight through resonator. I noticed the car a little louder (mostly just deeper) when I first drove it after the mod, and now I can't remember what it used to sound like. (the difference was so small) It does pull a little harder at higher rpms, and it definitely pops more often than it used to.
