Keep burnin through tail light fuses

Jus picked up a 02 protege5 and previous owner forgot to mention the electrical gremlin that came with the car.

I'm going through tail light fuses like they're free. So I'm losing instrument lights, running lights in the back, and side markers. Seem like I can get a fuse in then when I make any sudden movements (like closing the hood or driving over a bump) I burn the fuse.

I've ripped out the deck, disconnected the ciggerette lighter that never worked in the first place. And tried with the dimmer switch disconnected. Looked at all the wires for cuts or damage and no luck.

To also add it had a DRL box installed that I fully disconnected. Battery terminal fuse to the DRL box was melted in there. Thoight for sure that was the issue.

Thoughts? Ideas? I CANT DRIVE IN THE DARK!!! Help!

Thanks

IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING DONT WORK ON CARS.

12 hours of following wires and troubleshooting, front passenger bumper light was all taped together, no idea what they were trying to do, but they were doing it wrong.

Problem fixed!!

I agree wiring nightmares are typically the result of one or both of the following:

1. Previous owner not knowing what he was doing
2. Old wires with jackets that are deteriorating enough to cause intermittent or constant shorts

...glad you were able to fix the issues. (drinks)
