this shifter is sweet! i also got the bushings too, every shift is very precise! i recommend anyone who drives a standard pr5/mp3 get one of these!! also make sure you get the kartboy shift bushings they are amazing! worth every dollar

Where did you get yours? I'll be in Calgary in a couple of weeks. Does changing the shifter void any warrantee?

I ordered mine from the internet, kartboy.com won't ship to canada so i asked http://www.tokigiracing.com/ to get me one... i think you will have to email him about it

Woah what a deal! I visited the site, $100 for the shifter and bushings? That's almost unreal, compared the B&M's $250 or so. Can someone compare those two shifters? I'd love to know how big the difference is. But either way, as long as it reduces the height and throw and is less flimsy, how could you go wrong for $100...

PS: How long did it take you to install? Was it particularly difficult?

Don't count on the shifter and bushing combo being $100 for long. :) Sales have been going well, so we may be able to raise the price back to the market price of $125. We hopefully will have some matching knobs soon. The will more or less look like our Subaru knobs, but sized for the Protege.

Thanks for all the support.

very easy to install, needed some brute force for the bushings but thats about it, you will need i believe, a 14mm (for bushings), 10mm (for heat sheild) and 12mm??? (shifter) sockets, a philips screw driver, a pair of needle nose pliers or C Ring pliers. took me 2 hrs to do it only because i didn't have any instructions so i just figured it out, the stock rubber bushings were being difficult but i figured out that you just pull really hard with pliers to get them out LOL. oh BTW you will need jack stands to raise your car. 1 other thing that gave my a problem was the heat sheild so i had to remove it and dremel a hole or a ushaped cut out in it to make the thing fit.

Hmm... I really don't like cutting things, but I like using brute force on OEM products, so I guess it's a fair trade :) I think that might be one of the next things on my car, I can always get my rims later on right?

Actually, you shouldn't have to cut anything. The heat shield just has to bend down about 10mm or less to clear the lower part of the lever. The aluminum is pretty thin, so it will bend rather easily.
