I know alot of people here are loyal to the Kartboy SS and I am more than likely going to get that one but I just wanted to see opinions from anyone who has tried of the Pacesetter SS? All I know about it is that it is about 95$ and is adjustable for height/throw.

did the pacesetter come with bushings, or did it need them at all?

I am still tryin to make this decision, the adjustability of the pacesetter seems nice btu I dont think I would use that feature much anyway.

no, it didn't come with bushings...but i don't think you need them...it works great for me. i just liked setting the throw where i wanted it when i installed the shifter...it does it's job and it's a great price...go for it!

i have the pacesetter...and i'd say it took around 30 min tops...unbolt the stock shifter, pull it out...drop the new one in...bolt it on...and play. it's not hard at all...just make sure you have a way to get under the car.

hm, thx alot for the input, now im unsure which to get, ill prob base it off each companies warrenty =P

well you also might want to look at if they actually own a Mazda Protege, and if they are on the boards:)
granted i dont get to spend as much time here as i like but i try and pop in each day to see whats cookin.

for the warrenty. out of the few thousand shifters weve sold i havent had a single problem :) ( knock on wood)
thats for the Subarus, Mazdas, etc...

happy shifting
tom

Tom's the man! (first)
Kartboy all the way.

pdhaudio: For the first time, it'll probably take around 1/2 hour. Just jack up the front-end, get some snap-ring pliers, and you're good to go! I helped AcTs put his in, and it took us about 15 minutes, super easy and straightforward.
One bit of advice I have is to grease the crap out of the ball with lithium grease.

if you are going to chose between one of those two shifters....you should get the Kartboy. you say warranty is a big thing for you....well I can tell you....you will get NO company to support you more than Tom at Kartboy...seeing as how he is not only a mazda driver...but a member of our forum. you just can't go wrong.

I just put my kartboy and bushings in 2 days ago.. BIG diffrence in throw and hight of shifter.. very stiff feel, you know when you get in gears, with the bushings it does not feel sloppy anymore. You can put me down for kartboy.
