k&n filter

K&N drop panel is better than stock... the k&n cone filter will have performance too and sounds better but it looses torque tho but its same as the short ram minus the shinny look hehe

The shape of your filter will not matter. THe cheap one off of ebay is fine.. .works for many people here... i had a similar set up and wow ,what a difference... it wasnt in my mind... cause i just took it off a while ago for certain reasons (mainly making my own and trying some things out) and the throttle was much better than stock. You basically get a louder noise from your enigine because there is less crap in there when you take out the stock parts and the fact that it is an aluminum pipe. the filter shape doesnt matter. Dichie was noticing louder noises because it is a betetr flowing filer (KN gauzze) and since i can see he doesnt have the lid on teh air box. (by the way i am not bashing you dichie) By the way, you will get cold air out of the short ram while you are driving, stationary is another argument. There is a hole at the bottom if you look in your engine that cools the transmission.. thats enough turbulence to let the short ram pick up cold air. On hot days after driving if i were to touch the pipe, it would be colder than anythin else in te engine bay.

Another thing to watch out for... thsoe red filters are not the same as KN filters...i believe though AEM uses KN.. they are just red dyed paper filters... so its up to you if you think the KN is worth it. And ALL of the manufactureres... ALL OF THEM.. use the EXACT SAME TYPE OF ALUMINUM... INCLUDING THE EBAY.... T6 aircraft grade aluminum. They ALL use this.. injen, aem, ractive, etc.... except the injen seems to fit a little betetr than some ( i think its a 2.5" pipe) while the ractive and ebay are 2.75" or pipe.

Personally you can buy the ebay one and will love it, or just buya drop in from KN... if you buy the drop in, i suggest removing the first couple of parts from the amazing air maze in your car (on top of the radiator and the one to the righ of it) so you will get just an airbox w/ a hole to get the air... this is pretty much a short ram.

Well i hope this helps you. Peace.

Oh yah, as for HP and TQ... like i said,,, you will feel a slight difference... more HP and more TQ (low end), but you will not notice a 1 or 2 hp difference between two systems.... i dont care what anybody says. So it is safe to say that these systems are delivering more than 5+ to 10 hp at the wheels... but like i said.... they all vary +-1 hp from eachother... i think you will most likely get more power out of a system rather than a drop in since there is less ducting to go through than stock... but you can always try the KN drop in and remove the first couple of peices to see what i meant.

all right, thank you very much for the informative response, i think im going to go with the drop in filter, at least for now. im a bit confused on what parts of the intake system you can remove though. if could you mark the parts on a picture or something?
thanks

EDIT: i think i see what you mean about removing the first couple parts now, but doesnt that mean the filter will be sucking in air right from the top of the engine bay, where its all hot?

Yes and no... if you are stationary for a few minutes, then yes it most likely will suck up warmer air than desired... but thios is not bad for your engine in any means... but while you drive the air in your engine bay is turbulant, so dont worry.

Anybody have this on on there Injen?
