Just wondering whos faster

I raced one but I didn't ask what mods he had (if any). I can tell you I left him waaaaaayyy back!!

i think it'll be pretty even, IF all he did was put on the exhaust system w/o ECU tuning. WRX arent very good in the hands of a subie newbie. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say MS3 with CAI

Probably whoever is the better driver. If driver's are even, then the wrx might pull ahead from a stop, otherwise ms3 should win.

What he said, even from a stop my fully bolted spec V did decent against a stock rex, so the MS3 shouldn't have a problem once modded or from a roll on.

MS3 should win hands down from a roll......Rex's in stock form are not all that fast. From a dig is a different story if he knows how to drive his car. Even then, if u drive well you can still gain ground and take em....

take a look at this. i was the noob. car #20

That's about right. The AWD will get a better launch but the MS3 will catch it pretty quick.
Looks to me that it was issue with the shifts that caused the WRX to catch up.

look at those 60's

that wrx drive sucked a fat one on the launch...

he could have got a much better launch... a wrx should be at a 2 flat or better 60' time...

jflash, was that a heavily modded subaru? because with a better 60', he coulda cut ALOT off that time...

I've encountered a bug eye rex on the highway and consistantly pulled away from him at around 60 to 120 ending up with a big gap between us. And thats from him riding my bumper. However my buddy's STi DESTROYED me from a light. From a roll I've held my own but by no means am I faster. He has full exhaust, engine management, coilovers, etc... and a rather large credit card debt. His brother has a new TR and he won't even try to go with me. I still love the fact that this little Mazda that most people don't know about can go against a modded STi and still call it a race. Can't wait to get the CAI, everyone seems to love the results.

it had a turboback and intake. we were both on street tires.

i know my 60' sucked it was my first time at the drags.(drive2)

Those times are interesting. You had the better 60', then by 1/8 mile the wrx was ahead, then you reeled him back in at the end. I'd think the wrx should only beat you on the launch, then you'd be faster the rest of the way. However, he managed to gain a bit after the launch, then eventually lose. Did you stumble somewhere after the start that allowed him to catch up? I'd think that if your ahead at 60' a wrx should have just slowly but surely shrunk in the rear view mirror.

yours isnt laughable though... for a high powered fwd, a 2.3 on street tires isnt aweful... but you should have been able to squeeze a little more out of it...

for a wrx with say 240hp, and awd, he should be sub 2.0 60'... his was piss poor...

it was my first time at the drags and i did not power shift. my tires wouldnt grab until i shifted into 3rd gear. i had to launch at 2000 and feather like crazy. i plan on having slicks next year.
