just started smoking - turbo options

Pull your intercooler and check to see if you have any accumulations of oil in it. If so, clean it out and see if the problem reoccurs.

In my case, a disconnected line on the catch can (EliteEngineering catch can) was the cause of my smoke at idle condition. The line slipped off on the crankcase side attached to the stock pcv was not allowing the valve to open during vacuum. So it was causing oil to blow by. I reconnected the line, and car still smoked. It wasn't until I pulled the TMIC and cleaned out all the oil with carb cleaner and dried it did the smoking stop.

dude i think that he has solved his problem take time to read the thread...before posting (hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)

well it seems that the problem went away - i haven't had any smoke in several days now. :). The only exhaust mod I have is a magnaflow cat-back.

Hello all.

The Ko4 hybrid I am doing is a replacement for the K04 using the factory end housings. I have a special seal inside that eliminates the smoking problems. That seal is actually an option for those that cant kick the smoking issue.

The stage 1 is a stock compressor housing and is only rated for around 300-310 WHP. After that the compressor housing chokes volume output. The CHRA is a non ball bearing 2860 that is rated to flow up to 370 BHP.

The stage 2 is the same CHRA as the stage 1 but the compressor housing is upgraded and about 10% more volume will come with the upgraded compressor housing.

The stage 3 is going to be a non BB 2871 CHRA with an upgraded compressor housing and should gain another 30 WHP over the stage 2. Still in the works...

The exhaust housing on the K04 is around 8cm2. That size turbine housing can make mid to upper 300's WHP with the right component pieces. I have customers with smaller turbine housings making 500 AWHP on a Subaru.

I did exactly the same thing. It worked for a couple weeks. Smoke retuned though.
