(thumb) So far so good... pretty damn good car :) Handles incredibly well in snow.

Its a bit slow compared to my other car... but thats something I can fix later on !

Here is my other car... a 1993 Nissan NX2000 with a GTi-R swap (for sale BTW)

This seems like a pretty cool place (thumb) The How-to's are excellent. It should be a fun car to own and play around.

(drinks)

cheers,

Mat

Nice. Welcome to the laser club... best dam color you could have chosen! Some might disagree... don't listen to them (glare)

congrats! btw I'm seeing no roof rack rails, so that means you probably got a 2003.5. Check the trunk area for this. It's a spare tire subwoofer :)

Welcome! Here is info I try to pass onto all the newbies who join up. I am sure you will want to mod soon. Here is my advice.

Right after I got my P5, I got the intake. You can get a short ram intake (SRI), which is what I have. Others have cold air intakes (CAI) They are about the same on ebay, but you may also opt for name brand. I have the ebay...

The next thing I did was get rid of those god forsaken Dunflop piece of s*** stock tires. I hydroplaned within the first week or so I owned the P5. I ended up with the Yokohama AVS ES 100's. 205-50-16's on the stock rims. After 23000 miles, they were through, so I got aftermarket wheels, and Kumho Ecsta 711 205-40-17s. There are a bazillion threads about tires. These I highly recommend for rainy climates. (Bottom line, get out of the stock tires before you have a problem!)

I just got (after 2.5 years of owning my car) a Racing Beat exhaust. I got an insanely good deal on it. It is on the higher end of the pricing range, but you can score one used at a good rate if you are on the forum within the .245 seconds someone posts it for sale used. They run in the high $400 range new. There is a Mazda Sport (Mazdaspeed) exhaust which is also popular, but people have complained of droning, or an annoying sound at freeway speeds. The Racing Beat does not do that. But there are a bazillion threads about the exhaust subject too, look them up.

Then there is the tinting of windows, a stereo, springs/shocks/body kit, carbon fiber everything, etc you will see around here for sale.

Short shifter is next on my list. Kartboy makes a great one, I have seen it in person. The shifter bushings are a must. Get them no matter what. Huge difference in shifting!

I found by moving to synthetic engine and transmission fluids, I get better mileage, and it shifts smoother too. So easy to do, it is worth it.

One more thing you should consider when you mod is a header. OBX and Ractive are the most common. I just installed the Ractive, and love the HP gains. Be sure to look up the Spark Plug non-fouler trick for the 2nd o2 sensor. It prevents the CEL from coming on.

Well, good luck, and check out the for sale section, and work with the Authorized Venders and sellers! Oh, search for threads about a question you might have. Most likely, it has been covered.

welcome and i think i found my long lost brother (thumb)

a little blurey but its ok

2003 has roof rack rails, just hard to see in pic. I have a 2003.5, it has the roof rack rails and the mighty sub in the spare tire :) I don't use it cuz I've upgraded my speakers to ED stuff (edi 6500 + Eu-700), which are very nice btw.

Nice color too, wish I had that option when I was buying. Have fun with her, and get some good tires for her. I got Dunlop Winter Sport M3's for mine (for winter driving). They do very well and still have sporty handling. For summer, I haven't decided yet, I'm just using some decent all-seasons. The Dunlops that came with it sucked horribly, and only lasted about a year for me, which lots of hydroplaning. Take a look at http://www.tirerack.com/

Next year is the year I start upgrading my girl... turbo, LSD, clutch, suspension, short shifter, tires, and whatever else I feel like spending on my "toy". I'm looking at the HiBoost kit, +200 whp on stock internals... plus some upgrade room.

no what I'm talking about are the raised roof rack rails - either the "roof rack delete" rails, which are a couple pieces of raised plastic running the roofline or the actual roof rack.

And w00t for another copy-paste job by raider lol

Welcome to the club.....The OPO (Ottawa Protege Owners) is dead now but I meet up with the Mazda 3 guys every now and then....I'll keep you posted on our next meet.

Unfortunatly Canadian P5's never got this as an option :(

I couldn't have said it better.

Anyway

firewired, Welcome to your new addiction

Thanks guys !

Laser Blue is my favorite color for the P5... the next best is white IMO

My mom has a 2003 P5 too .. so its not a completly new car :P We had to change tires on her car... we got some Toyo Proxes 4 in 195/50/16 ... amazing tire !

RaiderMP5- Thats pretty much all the info I found while searching :P.
The only thing im looking for right now are the kartboy bushings in my area. Where to find Kartboys in Ontario ?

smurfedpro5- You'll love the NX...especially once turboed. Those motors are incredible. Definatly one of the best 4 Cyl. engines ever made. The NX jsut begs to be beaten (thumb) . Plus, Slate Pearl Grey is the best NX color too. Make sure to visit the sr20forum.com and get the Hyperco springs :)

I like black or white the best for P5s, but Blue is definitely the most unique color out of all the choices. Of course I don't own a black, white or a blue one LOL

Welcome to the board (thumb)

Welcome--you'll love the car...and yes, you can beat the crap out of pretty much any Nissan engine.
