Just picked up my 08.5 MGM MS3 GT

Dude you got *****...:(

- Metro gray is pretty nice, saw one not too long ago at the dealer.

I wouldn't say that. My sport was 22,4xx before tax and title. That pushed it up to around $25K. That is what they were going for then (and still are from what I heard). In my area, you were lucky if you could get the dealer to knock anything off MSRP. They were just selling too fast and well.

Nyet. Got my GT for just a few hundred more before TTL than you did your Sport, and we're local. Could've got a Sport for ~$21k, again before TTL.

i ******* bought a sport and it ended up being 26-27k after tax lol wtfux

*****, as stated
I paid $22,740 before TTL.

still more than mine . . .

$21442 before TTL for my 08.5 Sport w/wheel locks and the cargo net included @ that price.

OP - congrats on the Metro Grey! Saw one in person a few months ago at the dealer. pics don't do it justice.

I can tell you back in Jan / Feb / March of 2007 I shopped at 5 different dealers in the area and never got an offer more than 300 less than MSRP. So... Maybe times have changed in a year, but I can tell you that when they first came out, you coudn't get near invoice.

Blue-Sun, I got wheel locks, cargo net, and the home link rear view compass mirror in my price as well. So really, we only paid a few hundred dollars difference.

Paying 22.xK before TTL is not getting *****. I have purchased several cars and know how to shop around. Sometimes it is simply what the market demands. I realize some areas were a little cheaper, but I wasn't going to travel 400 miles roundtrip to save 500 bucks.

I got the Grand Touring for $22,740, not the Sport.

But yeah, the metro gray is really under appreciated imo. It turns into several different colors under different lighting and the flakes just start popping under the sun as well.

Oh, and the worst part was, the day after I purchased my car, I went online and sent out for dealer quotes again and low and behold, Oakland Mazda offered $22,400 before TTL for a black mica or cwp 08.5 speed 3 gt. They didn't have metro gray in stock but I'm just letting you other bay area folk know that this car can be bought for $1,000 under invoice at the moment..

Times have changed in a year and half. Clearly the fact that car has been out there a while has changed demand and the dealers have to honor that. Here is what the TMV is for my area right now for a 2008.5 GT with just the wheel locks, net, and homelink. No nav., upgraded stereo... nada. (And yes... it is pretty accurate on what you could expect to pay.)

(You will need to put in my zip of 21046 and grab the options above.)

Yep... $24,499. Invoice is $23,532 and MSRP $25,170!

Clearly the area of the country you live in is a huge factor.

that's a damn good price! My posts were directed more at the people I quoted, not you! Congrats again!

Blue-Sun... you and I paid about the same price for the same car. I assume you are directing the "Got *****" to someone else...

yah, at the guy who paid 26k OTD.

My awesome dealer (who I just got off the phone with for my 2nd Oil Change appointment and the TSB on my headunit) was actually hesitant at giving me the car at that price but they did it and they rock!

Yes, because Columbia, MD and Alexandria, VA are worlds apart :D

I plugged in my ZIP code and Edmunds' TMV for a GT came back at $24.1k. I don't know what to tell you aside from don't trust Edmunds any more than KBB, I could've picked up a GT from several local dealers for over a grand less.

I am just telling you the way it was back then. I shopped Alexandria and I ended up getting my car from York, Pa. Remember I purchased two MS3s in this area less than 3 months apart. They were both within $300 of each other and had the same specs.

Dealers use KBB and Edmunds. I don't know who else to trust. If you can get a dealer to give you below these two guides, more power to you. For the rest of us mortals, we have to deal with reality.

lawl. I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just putting less stock in the location factor and more in timing and demand. Hey, the MS3 has been out for almost two years now. Everything that can be written and said about it already has. People have the attention span of gnats, and the MS3 is yesterday's news. That and $4.35 for premium has dealers now realizing they can't charge a premium for these cars.

Fair enough. When I got mine they were the hot ticket. They were on the cover of C&D and were featured as the new "hot econobox" of the year. Some of the appeal has worn off to the advantage of new buyers. In fact, I was just on a Mazda lot this morning getting an oil change (Russell Mazda off Rt. 40) and they didn't have any MS3 on the lot at all. They told me they could get me one at a good price if I wanted one. I asked about invoice...they said no, but close. (They didn't give me an exact price)
