Well last week I came out to my car with a flat tire. Took it off, found a screw had it it patched. Yesterday, my tps sensor went off, looked and found another nail in the same tire only this time in the side wall. So now I'm stuck with having to buy a new tire(s) for the 2. Any suggestions for a better tire replacement or should I just go get the stock tire again?

There are much better options than the Yoko S34, go on TireRack.com and read some reviews on tires for the car. I haven't bought an all-season tire in 10 years, so unfortunately I can't give any recommendations there. But I can help you pick out outstanding snow tires and summer tires!

I forgot to mention that I am a full time college student and just spent 800$ on tools for my trade. So money is an issue. Can I get by by just replacing the one tire or should I do it in sets of two? Thanks for the help!

I would definitely recommend replacing them in pairs. Actually, depending on how much tread you have left on your stock tires, get a new pair for your drive (front) wheels, keep two stocks on the back, and use the one left over as a full-size spare just in case another one of your stocks gets knocked out of commission. That way you only have to mount the extra tire instead of incurring the cost of a new one.

I'm a full-time student too, and just had to pay $575 for new wheels because 3 out of the four stock ones were bent, so I feel your pain...I'm pretty sure I'll have to get new tires this summer too because the treads are getting thin on mine.

Often discount tire has good deals on tires. I just got 4 falken ziex912s (a good budget all season performance tire) for $170 shipped to my door after rebates.

The Yokos we get aren't really that bad for DD use; we've had a horrible winter here in Minnesota so far and both of our 2's have been fine. If you can find a deal on a pair of S34's I'd just go that route until you can save up for a whole new set of tires.

That said, when the tires on our 2011 wear out, they'll be getting replaced with a set of Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S's. Pretty much the best all-season tire you can buy.

How much are the Michelins, and where can you get them? Tire Rack? I only saw the Defender for anything close to the stock tire size.
