Just joined, on the fence about purchase

14 CX5 GT AWD - Tech
Potential purchase:
Color? 2014 CX5 GT AWD - Tech - Roof rack, I will do the hitch on my own.

I have test drove both a 2013 & 2014 Touring AWD. 2013 was a no go, for lack of go. There is a slight difference between the two engines. My biggest issue currently has to do with the passenger seat. Please tell me the salesman was mistaken when he told me that the passenger seat does not have a height adjustment in any of the models, which of course includes the GT. This silly feature may be a deal breaker for me. Please go check that your GT has a passenger height adjustment and tell me that the Salesman was wrong.

Current cars
1998 VW jetta TDI (Mazda to replace this as my DD)
2008 Ford Mustang GT Vert
2008 Ford Expedition EL Limited

I'm just sayin'....My spouse is 5' 0" with disproportionately long legs - she sits low. Prior to switching from a 2001 Miata to a 2010 MX-5, she discovered that in the newer car's interior design she could not see over the wiper blade from the passenger's seat; a deal breaker. I went to an auto upholstery shop and had them make a booster seat cushion with a sculpted top to match the existing seat stitch and material section pattern on the top, and a bottom molded to match the shape of the Mazda seat bottom. This design guaranteed that it would not slide out of position either when she was getting in/out or when the car is being operated vigorously.

I took this action as the MX-5 was a combination of performance/looks/comfort(?)/convenience that nothing else could touch at the price point. Seems a shame if, if you feel the same way about the CX-5, to walk away when a 175$ mod could eliminate the problem.

Just sayin'

My wife and i have just the opposite problem. I'm 6' and she's 5' 9-10", and a little long in the torso, hope she doesn't see this. It did look as though her head was about an inch away from the ceiling, and with the way I positioned the driver seat, I was definitely looking up at her. I don't think it would be wise to cut and weld the seat frame on a brand new car, for a slew of reasons, but I guess not out of the question. If this car shared components with with another car that did adjust that could be a solution, but I guess that it being so new, the mods are slim pickings.

None of the Mazda cars I have owned in the past 10 model years have had any kind of height adjustment control on the passenger seat.

I have been letting my Passengers deal with my VW's unadjusting/uncomfortable passenger seat for 15 years and I have been looking at a wide variety of cars that all had comfy passenger seats. BMW, Audi, Ford, Chevy, Hyundai, and the newer VW's all treat the passenger like they count also. I am trying to find a vehicle that can commute to work, run the errands, and occasionally transport the Wife, 3 kids and the dog, without it feeling like total punishment. The Expedition can do it, but it hurts the wallet big time. The Jetta can do it, but it is definately punishment.
The Mazda is definately a solution. The seat height is just a hiccup.

About time to upgrade and consider premium brands where power passenger seats are standard and taken for granted (BMW, MB, Audi, Lexus and they all offer compact-mid SUV's).

Any of those near $25K-$26K?
