Just got my new Mazda 2!

The light from those LEDs is nasty and too cold. But who am I to say, I like burning candles and kerosene lamps for ambiance. I love soft white light. I am looking to cover the lense with red tape for that U-Boat, Submarine proper night lighting: RED. I have bought a rally lamp but I am still looking for the red bulb. When driving at night, red light does not mess with night vision as much as white light and nowhere nearly as much as that blue/green LED light.
YMMV
:)

OTOH I love your white car. I rather prefer your your Pearl white to my Brilliant Black.
Oh well.

Haha, those are some neat ideas you have there. I suppose one option would be to spray paint the lens with some translucent red paint. That could end up looking pretty cool.

I totally get the appeal of natural looking lights, as opposed to the cold and sterile LEDs. I do think the dome LED light looks pretty sweet at night though. Looks like something out of a much more expensive car. :)

I really want the led light kit just because the stock light doesn't shine on the back seat area at all.

And joker, you can try coloring your bulb with a red sharpie...I know a guy who did that and it looked awesome. Don't know how long it would last without fading though.

Congrats. You made the "risky" decision and got it manual... Nice.
I sometimes wish I would have gotten a stick. But being a daily driver, I figured I wouldn't be as charmed about it in traffic.
Everything has its pros and cons of course. Frankly, I think the 3 with its "Sport automatic" is a nice compromise. Too bad it wasn't offered on the 2.

Although it does take a bit of time getting used to the manual, I don't regret my decision. I would have liked to have seen something similar to the 3's mazdamatic in the 2 though, it's a great compromise between the two.
