Woohooo, install was a pain but got it in and no rubbing against the reservoir. And boy did it make a difference, much nicer acceleration through out the rpm range. And gave it a nice tone.
Wish my camera was working I'd take a pic of it.

I have a question about any ram intake system versus the CAI.


I have a setup for RAM air but once I remove all of the air box and associated hardware, I am left with a sizeable gap between engine and fender. Does anyone worry about a very rainy day and getting alot of water splashed up into the filter? At least with the CAI , the fender and lower plastic shroud keep a majority of the elements out.

Living in Houston Texas, I see a fair amount of rain around here.

Give me some feedback please.

its call bypass valve

goto any import store and you can buy this thing called a bypass valve it lets air in, but say you go through a puddle of water it wont let water get sucked up in the intake.

Trust me.....I know what your talkin about.....I happened to get my Injen CAI into some floody water awhile back and sucked some in.....almost killed the car! The best intakes to go for in very rainy areas are short ram intakes.....I sold my Injen intake and slapped on the Injen cone filter onto the stock rubber piping......thats till I can buy another aftermarket intake......Ill probably go for the AEM next time.....

O' yeah I had the AEM Bypass Valve on the Injen too.....didnt do s***! If you want the bypass valve Snoopy you can have it.....i know you live around here.

not true,

short ram has no advantage over cold air, throw a bypass valve on a CAI and walla problem solved and ya still get the better proformance form a CAI rather than a short ram.

ya know its been proven you lose HP when you put on a bypass valve onto a CAI.....you'll end up getting the same performance from a short ram.

I had a RAM air intake on my Maxima but there was less of a gap and the whole setup seemed higher off the ground than the P5 is. They both showed very similiar results on the dyno (maxima not the P5) with the edge going to thr RAM most likely because the hood was open for the sensors so there was more freee air to grab that would have been slightly cooler.

IF no one is getting crap in their intake with all of the factory stuff out of the way, I will go back to mine for the P5. Thanks for the offer for the bypass but I won't need it. I may just put the cone on just outside of the MAF sensor which will put the cone right beside the resevoir there and over the fender.

I assume everyone is pulling the factory air shroud off that lays on top of the radiator as well which uncovers the fans as well?

Citizenpro. Hey again. I am still in the area. New hospital openings and cycling has killed extra time and budget but I didn'ttotally forget about ya and the plugs. Are you using the SPARKO wires with your iridium plugs? Any gain in any area? I would love to get my MPG average over 31.

Yeah I just put on my injen and I see a huge gap under the car that I'm worried about water slipping through and going to my filter so I'm gonn have to fashion some kind of small shield for it. IT shouldn't be hard. I am worried about hydrolock but I don't think that normal driving in rainy conditions will hurt. Just stay outta the huge puddles that'll splash a lot of water up to the filter. Or if you're that worried, put your old air box back on in the rainy months. It would only take minimal time to put the old one back on. After completing it once you know what to do and all the shortcuts.

And yes I pulled the factory air shroud.

no...I havent bought any aftermarket wires yet for my car.....Ive put a hault on getting stuff for the P5 recently and ive been buying products for my wifes Z24. But its stopped now.....back to MY CAR! I got the GC Coilovers yesterday and im gonna put them on to see the ride feel.....if its too rough of a ride im going to put the Eibachs back on.....back to the wires....i dont know if I should get the magnecor wires or the sparkco wires? The sparkcos are obviously cheaper but is the quality good.....i dont know.
