Just got my car

Hey guys, I finally got my car! I got it about 9:45 tonight. Its black and although I haven't seen it out in the sun, it looks realllllly nice. And the handling is unreal. Totally beat out all my expectations even if I only drove the car for a little. The stero also is way more than I expected out of a stock car. I am so happy with my decision with buying the car. Just one question, has anyone put in a turbo timer in yet?

good job. take a lot of pics. i need something to keep me excited about the car i'm still waiting for. it's dying slowly every single day. also, how many msp's did that specific dealership receive in all? it's been almost a month since my dealership received their last one. only received 2 total so far.

I think they said in total they might only be getting nine depending on how fast they sell them. Mine was the 3rd or 4th one they sold I believe.

thx...i'm sure those will keep me occupied for a few min. man i can't believe that other dealerships have already gotten their 4ths already. oh well...

can someone give me an idea of how much those additional fees were? let's say that my dealer sells for 20,500. i live in CA so that's 8% sales tax. so far it's 22,140. what are the additional fees that everyone has to pay and how much would it be approximately? thx in advance to whoever helps.

it will be 22605 out the door in california. There is a documentation fee of 50 dollars. A tire fee of 5 dollars. Tax is 8.25% and license is 1.75%. If Gray Davis's tax increase proposal passes, then it will be 22810.

hey turbo thx. is 22605 like a ballpark figure or is it what you paid for yours? so i guess i shouldn't expect to pay any more than that figure, right?

i also have a few more questions for anyone who may have some sort of answer,

do fees vary from dealership to dealership or should they be the same(for CA)?
were any of you current msp owners able to negotiate at all or even bother trying?
the fact that there are newer msp's coming out change the fact that the msp in general is still a "limited edition" vehicle?
if so, can that be used as some sort of bargaining tool?
many on this forum have stated that mazda isn't really making a profit on these cars, is this really true?

i researched a little on the car and read that the invoice price of the car is 18466. i'm also assuming that all cars have sort of holdback. based on edmunds.com it says that there is a 2% holdback on the car. if that's true then it means that the holdback is 410, which makes the actual dealer cost of the car 18,056. i'm pretty sure this info is somewhat correct. so, doesn't this prove that mazda dealerships are making money on the car afterall or does this "limited edition" stuff void all these facts. even if they sold the car for 19,500 they're still making like 1500 dollars off of you aren't they?
last thing i wanna ask,
someone told me that for a dealer to be able to mark up the price of a car, it would have to be in "high demand". "high demand" normally meaning that the car IS NOT on the lot, right? now, there are many people still waiting for their cars to arrive but only cuz of these stupid delays. i know that there are many dealerships with 2 or at least 1 car still on their lot but in diff states. does this still mean that the car is in "high demand"? i'm guessing we won't really know until all the 2003's ship completely.

these were just some thoughts i had on my mind. i don't think anyone on this forum has gotten anything below msrp. there was also a msp on ebay that sold for 19,995 without a reserve. anyone remember that? i just wanna see if i'd be able to get a lower price. it wouldn't hurt.

22605 is what you should be paying in California for the msp out the door if you got it for msrp. I have no idea when the govenor's tax proposal will pass or take affect but as of now, you should pay 22,605. The car will still be considered limited production even if the 2003.5 are coming out. Dealers will be more willing to negotiate more since more msps are coming later in the year but don't be so sure that they will budge right now since the majority of the 2003 msps have not even arrived yet. Once the majority of the 2003s have arrived and the 2003.5 are coming, this is when they will be more negotiable on the price. There will still be mark ups but it won't be as intense as the markups on the very first msps that have arrived. Technically, when a car is in high demand, it is off the lots and you have to reserve one to be garanteed one, but I guess the dealer's definition of high demand is that the car is limited in production. I'm not sure if mazda is losing money on this but remember that Mazda Co. and Mazda dealerships are different. Mazda Co. sells their products to Mazda dealerships so if Mazda is losing money on the Msps, Mazda Co. is actually losing money and the Mazda Dealerships are making money since they are selling the car way over invoice.
