just got a p5 :)

Hello everyone,

I am new here as well, and I intend to get a Protege5 as well.

Just like OP, i am 20 and looking for my first car. A question to the OP: how did you manage to buy the car if you didn't know how to drive standard? As in how did you manage to test drive it and make sure it's problem-free?

I am asking because I don't know how to drive standard either and would like to buy a standard car too. I figure I would be able to learn if given the opportunity, but it's like a chicken or the egg thing...

Hello and welcome just take someone with you that can drive MT and can tell if there is something wrong with the shifting, clutch etc.

actually my dad drives mt, so he test drove it...got it looked at by a mechanic..got the green light from both....then stressed out the fist 2 weeks driving it through traffic...now its 2nd nature only after about a month...i drove my friends civic which is auto the other day and went to press down the clutch and was tripping for a second...gotta tell ya you defiantly dont have the control with an auto that you get with the mt...good luck bud!
