Just drove the new, Gen3 MZ6

I just bought a brand new 2014 Mazda 6 from the showroom floor. The car is amazing, i recommend it. It drives excellent, it is very stable and the fuel economy is just as good as a 2013 Passat Diesel, but gas is cheaper! Its a great car and a head turner, poeple ask me on the red lights what is it.

Just drove a Touring model. Car rode and handled very well. Steering felt a little light. Engine performed significantly quicker in midrange and was less noisy than 2.0L in CX-5. Did not notice any significant tire or wind noise. Looks gorgeous but slightly longer than I prefer. Somewhat on the fence between the new 6 and CX-5.

Just need the Mazda6 wagon - best of both worlds!

Boy, the wagon variant is hot. I'd buy one in a heart beat.

But, I have always been a fan of 6 wagons. Loved the first gen as well. Too bad the rest of America didn't feel the same way, or we might be getting a wagon 3rd gen stateside.

Last Mazda I had was a 1990 626 LX 5 Door. Something like this, what a great versatile car:

No need to be too picky. A little enthusiasm of a brand new car is warranted here.

Of course, pictures please, otherwise it didn't happen.

Discovered this forum when doing research on our new car. Thanks everyone for your considered opinions and expert advice. I have driven Mazdas since 1983, though my husband has driven Holdens and Fords (nothing but the 6cyl) In all of that time, I never had a warranty claim, never had a mechanical fault. Rust was non existant. The experience with the proven reliability of the Mazda, kept bringing us back to the brand. As we are now both retired we were looking to drop back to one car. Price wise you are lucky you live in the US. By the time you add, import duty, GST, stamp duty for a new car, and registration, and allowing for the higher costs of running a dealership in Australia, the drive away price for the touring is over $40000.

We had to find a car that suited us both. After much deliberation (and debate) we bought a new Touring Mazda 6. ((The specs are slightly different in Australia) We could not be happier. We both love driving it. I had to set the speed warning as it effortlessly powers away. A huge factor in our decision was that we wanted a car that had fuel efficiency. Price of premium unleaded in Oz yesterday was $1.54 per litre. Very rarely does it get cheaper. Will let you know in a month or so how the petrol consumption is going. Not being able to afford a Jag, we also did want a car that had a touch of luxury.

Bluetooth worked perfectly for both phone and Ipod Nano. Still getting used to the commander unit. Does not take long to adapt to the I Stop.

All in all a great car.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your purchase of the new 6! Seems to be one excellent vehicle...

Also, does anyone have any thoughts about the manual-equipped 2014 Mazda 6? I know dealer inventories are still lacking, but I did locate a manual, pearl white '14 Mazda 6i Sport on a local dealer's lot (Faulkner Mazda in the Philadelphia area). Being a manual purist, I'm very curious to read about how these new cars drive. I know my experience has been quite smooth with the Skyactiv 3 so far, but that extra power and only a slight weight gain compared to what I have leaves me yearning for some answers.

Go take it for a spin. Let us know :-)

I recently rented a 2012 Mazda 6 and I saw the new 2014 Mazda 6 in the dealership just the other day. WOW. I thought the 2012 Mazda 6 was amazing when i drove it. But the 2014 Mazda 6 looked like a $50,000 sedan. The interior was amazing. Ergonomics were great. It was smaller than the last gen Mazda 6, but that is okay because it makes it easier to manuever. I didn't drive it, but I should have.

Anyone looking for the MT mazda might just have to order it or wait til summer when lots get more full and 2013s sell off.
