Just bought my first Mazda

Hi, everyone! I'm 6 weeks away from becoming a new father and have been on the hunt for a people carrier. I've had nothing but VWs & Audis since I could drive so I was a little disappointed when I found my baby's new Recaro convertible car seat struggling to fit comfortably in my A4s. Since VW didn't have anything with a 3rd row minus their minivan and Audi's Q7 is way too much money, I found myself shopping Toyota, Nissan, Volvo, Honda, and Mazda. It's truly surprising how well equipped CX9s are before tacking on any options! I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir but as a new Mazda owner, it's extremely difficult to find a better value! Also, this forum seems to get a decent amount of traffic and I can already tell after only an hour or so reading through that this forum is going to be a godsend to a newb like me.

My wife and I ended up with a 2010 CX9 Touring AWD with Bose, roof, pwr lift gate, Sirius, backup cam, all weather mats, and cargo net. If you're on the fence, Mazda is running a 0% finance offer that made this a seriously easy decission for my wife and I.

We signed the paperwork just in time to beat the heaviest of the snowfall home. Despite the conditions, I took the new sled out for an AWD test drive and though my Quattros seem more surefooted in the snow, the 9 is surprisingly capable for it's size.

Anyway...I'm rambling! I'm just so excited about my new Mazda! Thanks for listening!

Get rid of the OE tires, and you will love your CX9 even more on snow.

I was thinking about that earlier as I plowed my way through today's nor'easter. Maybe I'll throw snow tires on them when I'm ready to upgrade to 20s. It shouldn't be a tough sell on the Mrs. I caught her drooling over the GT's factory 20s at the dealership.

Not my first Mazda but...

My wife and I just bought a 2010 CX-9 GT Copper Red, with all the trimmings. Moonroof/Bose, Power Liftgate, Nav System, Roof Racks & Remote Start. I am a big Mazda fan, I have a 2003 Mazda 6 that I love and the CX-9 has not fallen short of any expectations. It hauls my wife and I and our 2 boys quite well. And you can't beat all the features for the price.

welcome to the mazda world! enjoy the 9. my friend bought one new 2 yrs ago, loves it!

Also a new "first time" member of the Mazda family here..bought a GT, RED, with navi/Bose last night, and picking it up Friday, after turning in my end of lease H3 Hummer..
Have had every SUV known to man in my life, and I gotta say, I have never seen a great VALUE like what you get/pay for in a CX9...looked at Pilots, Escape/Edge,Santa FE, Benz, and more, and, for the money, and all that you get, I was blown away by the CX9...
Am a little concerned about the seat heater issue, and the fact the doors don't lock when you shift into drive, but I guess I can get used to that, and, hopefully, the seat heater issue doesn't happen to everyone.
What is the "real world suburban" mileage on these things, and, do you have to baby them the first 1000 miles, or just drive it from the get go?
Can't wait to pick it up!

About 15 mpg for me at best, lately it's been around 14 or so with 70% city miles.

by your name, i bet you live in Minnesota...is the mileage any better in the warm weather than the cold weather?
I know my wife has a fusion hybrid, and the mileage is alot worse in the winter than the summer..

that's a little more like it..
I was hoping for around 19 in the summertime, in suburban/highway driving...Actually, I am just hoping for the summertime already!!!(band)

I actually live in Oregon. I have noticed a marked decrease in mpg during the winter.
