2007 Mazda5 Touring
Hello. I just bought a 2007 Mazda5 Touring. Seems like a great car so far. I planned on getting something with a V6, but this vehicle has what I needed (6 seats) and decent gas mileage too. The engine is decent, but I was wondering if there are any EASY and INEXPENSIVE (< $100) things I can do to get a little jump in power? Thank you!

Push the pedal harder? It's free.
You could always head over to the Mz3 section, they've got stickies for different stages of power mods.
Do you race it? Just wondering why this street vehicle would need more power? The only reason I modified my other vehicle was for WOT performance.

BTW, Welcome!

Welcome and enjoy your stay!

You could get a Cosmo short ram intake for $100ish plus shipping, you'll get a couple extra horses and get a different engine sound.

Short answer.....No.

Nothing under $100 will give you any power you can be happy with. Your best bet is to see if hypertech has a chip for us yet and some sort of air filter/intake.

imo yes there are some cheap mods (that haven't already been mentioned) to gain some power out of the 2.3...but some of these aren't exactly....'easy'

-Ground big 3/throttle body ($10 for wire/fittings)
-Timing advance mod (free)
-Balance shaft delete ($35 or so for kit)
-VTCS delete (free)
-Replace 2nd cat with straight pipe (~$80 depending on shop)

edit: didnt realize bean posted the power walkthroughs on this forum as well

check out the top 3 stickies here:
