Just another yellow P5 build...

Made brackets for the oil filter relocation and the pressure relief valve and oil cooler. Not sure where the oil thermostat will go yet. Oil cooler is where the condenser used to be on the drivers side.

With the 626 mani, the brake booster hose is too short to really fit a vacuum block, so I drilled a hole in the back of the mani, tapped it for m12x1.5 threads, and put in a 3/8 barbed fitting. Ran a hose from that up to the block that is mounted on the top of the mani. I think I'll be happy with it. It's not as hidden as I would prefer, but it'll make plumbing simple and easy.

Continued making hoses, and made the mounting brackets for the cooler.

Ordered axles from oreilly, got a kia carrier bearing. Hopefully it works, the p/n is the same as the mazda number. Pretty sure I don't need it, but might as well replace it while I have it out. Ordered 626 v6 front calipers, pads, and rotors. Got the calipers for $13 shipped each. Had to jump on them. Hopefully they're in decent shape. One of my calipers is siezed, and the other side has a warped rotor. Got two new lower control arms coming too.

Finished making oil lines, and used some black shoe polish on my scuffed up steering wheel. Much improved.

Lots of progress, rear main seal housing, oil pump, mbsp, new pickup tube, and oil pan all installed, slapped on the timing belt. Motor is all set. Hoping to do the swap on sunday!

Will zfr6f plugs be okay?

Painted 626 rotor hats and edges. $13 used calipers showed up, was a bit worried I'd be putting them both straight into the trash, but to my surprise, neither of the pistons are seized, pins slide beautifully, bleeders cracked loose. Perfect. Gotta clean and paint.

Nice! Almost time for that break in. How do you plan on breaking in the engine?

As for plugs, i always run Denso PKJ20CR8. They're stock Mazda approved replacements.

Moved alternator to new motor, painted valve cover wrinkle gold to match the block/trans. Pulled steering rack, dropped front subframe, installed msp front swaybar and prothane bushings. Got bay wiring under control and wrapped how I want it. Moving right along.

Converted my non-abs steering knuckles to abs knuckles. Drilled and tapped the m8x1.25 holes, made holes for the alignment pins, and ground the areas flat. Hopefully this will work and I can keep my abs.

Got the t-stat housing painted and installed, as well as painting the outer belt race on the crankshaft pulley so it's not all rusty. There hasn't been a belt on it in years, so it got pretty gross.
