Just a little enlightenment for MSP owners

Augh.. i hate SRT4 owners... I wounder if that guy will look back on that and say... "really now... all SRT4 owners are punks, mazdaspeed protege gets the top spot now"

Lol

LOL I saw that video before. It's obvious the MSP is the best of its class. Good quality, great handling, and decent power for a very reasonable price. The Focus can't keep up, and the SRT can have fun trying to run away from being ugly.

and we are faster on the slalom and they have how much more power than us??? and they barely barely take us in a lap time. i think one more pound of boost would of made the difference

The srt4 handles like a loose red light district *****. Everyone knows dodge only goes in straight lines anyways. The proteges alright, but honestly these are all family cars and are only good for daily driving. If you want a track car buy a miata or elise other than that stick to the freeway.

My car does great on the track, no need for me to buy a miata that I can't even fit in

Claiming the MSP is not track worthy is laughable.

Anythings "track worthy" if you have the money to put it on the track, but to be able to legitimately compete is another thing. Regardless the msp is not a track car it was meant to haul your kids and dog to the beach while looking good at the same time. Imo people who try to race a msp are no better than people who try to turbo a geo metro, its not as godly as you think. Also might i mention our anemic engine which stock has less power than a 1.8l miata with wrong wheel drive on top of that, rwd>fwd thats just how life works.

The MSP is one of the best handling FWD cars out there. You say RWD or nothing, Miata/Elise or nothing. That's what the different classes are for dude.

Put it this way, you CAN track the MSP, AND then drive your family back home. Try that with your Miata or Elise.

BTW, both those cars are awsome. Just saying you're ignorant.

Im biased get it right. What im saying is people are talking up the msp like its some track beast but in reality its not even close, not without stupid amounts of money put into it.

Dude, what's your reason for being in here? If you've got nothing constructive to say, and are just going to bash on everyone else, maybe you'd be better off in another forum.

Lulz at te msp not a track car... Even though docB used a protege, tripoint use a protege... But noooooooo it's not a track car.... There are sone people on this site ho track the car, and if you bring it to any type of racing event people say great things about the car because it IS one of the best handleing fwd car out there.

although the MSP is not the quickest thing out there and a lot of people classify it as an average grocery getter, there are people who are building this "grocery getter" for different reasons involving auto sports. Whether it is Autocross, Drag, Time Attack or whatever the case may be, the car will be classified by whatever it is used for. A majority of the people on here have this car as their daily driver but at the same time, it satisfies that persons need for speed at any type of track function or back road run. Any car will take money to make it faster, that is a given fact. If someone really wanted to boost a Geo Metro, more power to them. I don't see anything wrong with it especially since there are folks taking VW Beetles to local dragstrips and putting out decent numbers.
Saying that racing an MSP is no better than boosting a Geo Metro is like telling the guy next door who is into "donks" not to lift his Chevy Caprice and put 26" rims on it or not to take his Chevy Silverado and slam it with airbags and 20" rims. The MSP is a performance oriented car otherwise...WHY IS IT TURBOCHARGED? Yes it is a family car especially since it started out in its day as just a regular protege but so is an Evo...STI...hell there's 400+hp civics around here, that's a family car too. Race enthusiasts will dump money into their cars until the end of time. Some just like having a limited edition car with a little pep in its step. I have big plans for my MSP, some may think its a waste of time and money to try to get big numbers or even halfway decent numbers out of the MSP. I plan to, and as long as each person is happy with their cars power, that is all that matters. Then, others opinions don't mean anything. Finally, yes it does take a pretty penny to make reliable power with our cars but you have to pay to play. and most people like the challenge of making power with a platform like the MSP because anybody can just move on to a faster platform. There are several proteges in my area that are NA and they see my car and think I just have a regular protege with a paint job. Then, they start egging me on. Once they hear the turbo spool up or hear the BOV, my car is like a pot of gold. Everyone wants to see it because they have never seen a boosted protege before. It's nice to have something rare for reasons like this.

sorry for digging this up but the mazdaspeed protege is faster on the drag strip as tested and has more power than the mazdaspeed miata to the wheels.

as for the turbo geo, i recently raced a geo that whooped my butt in my madaspeed protege. it had a kawasaki 1200 streetbike motor that was turboed. you can do pretty much anything that money allows. i have seen ls3 volkswagon beetles and i've seen 8 second civics. i do have to say that there are smarter platforms to build from, but the msp can and does hold its own on the track. been there, done that.
