2009 CX-9 TR +Kenwood DNX7020EX
Hey all,

I'm a soon-to-be owner of a "new" pre-owned 2007 CX-9 as of tonight. I'm trading in my 2007 CX-7 while I still can. I've really loved the CX-7 despite some of it's "issues" but more and more I need to be able to seat more than 5 people, so I think the CX-9 will be a good fit. Getting about $12K on the trade-in and paying about $22K for the CX-9. I feel it's a good deal, especially since my CX-7 has 70K miles and needs some work right now.

I had done a custom radio/nav unit on the CX-7 and am hoping to do the same for the CX-9 in the near future. Will post picture when I'm done. If you look at my profile and old posts, you can see photos of the CX-7. Going to be doing a Kenwood 9960 likely... full nav, blue tooth, iPod and rear camera.

BTW, I'm a bit baffled about trim level on the CX-9 I'm buying. Dealer has it listed as a Sport and I know it's not a GT because it lacks the wood trim, fog lamps and blinker-mirrors. However, it has full leather interior, heated seats and moon roof. I didn't think these were even options on the Sport...

Look forward to joining-in this area of the forums :)... and hopefully not for problems! LOL

Could yours be the "Touring" model that sits in the middle of Sports and GT (Grand Touring)?
Welcome to CX9 forum.

Welcome to CX9 forum.

That's what I thought too until I saw the dealer had it listed as a sport.

To put the issue to rest, I went and registered it at Mazda.com with the VIN Number.... and according to them it is a Touring. Appears the dealer is wrong, but I'm not going to tell them ;)

What issues?

Issues: AC failure that made me think the car was on fire... cabin filled with smoke, climate control stopped working. Had to have car towed. Found out it was a wide-spread problem and fought with mazda to cover it (they paid all parts, I ended up paying labor). This was like 6 months ago or so... and over course they JUST issued an official recall on it.

Smart-key button completely disintegrated. Not for lack of care either... I take good care of my cars.

VVT Valve. Expensive to fix. Made engine very very noisy, especially at start-up.

Not exactly cheap to maintain... but I don't imagine the CX-9 is cheaper.

Premium gas only, and not all that great gas mileage.

IPod interface from factory sucked... that's why I ended up pulling the whole thing and going custom.

However, even with those things, I did LOVE the car! If I didn't need the extra seating, I'd likely have bought another!

Picked up the CX-9 last night...
