JL Audio amp ?'s

I just purchased the JL Audio 500X1 and am not sure on how to set it. Just wondering if anyone has any info on this. It is hooked up to 2 JL W3 (the old version). This amp makes a HUGE difference in sound but it just needs to be tweeked. I also have an alpine head unit. Any help would be much appreciated as for I have already blown alot of $$$$ just buying it and I don't want to have to pay someone to set everything.

If you need direct help with that amp 1st MP3 may know so you can PM him. Is it the 500/1 (new amps)? Also...make sure there aren't any EQs running on the HU output back to the amp, otherwise they'll throw things off.

I have the 250/1 which may have similar knobs...if that's the case see below.

On mine I have:
1) Amp LP fiter - I would set this to the 12dB Butterworth-middle positon on the switch, and turn the knob to the 85-100 hz area. It all depends on what size those W3's are. If they're 10's I would go with 100 hz.

2) Bass control - Set the infrasonic switch to on (if in a ported enclosure, definately...in sealed, experiment) and turn the knob to 0. If you don't like it, then turn it up notch by notch.

If you have more than these, then just tool around a bit, or PM 1st directly...I'm sure he'd be willing to help you out. Good luck...and nice choice on the JLs.

if the subs are in a sealed box, you can have the low pass filter up around 100 hz for 12's or 120 for 10's. but for setting the gain, i found this site:

If the box is sealed then:

Preamp Output Section
- Doesn't matter, this is for passing RCA's OUT of the amp.

Infrasonic filter:
Mode- Switch on
dial set to 25-30

Q/center frequency/boost:
Set dials all the way to the left.
Bass EQ - switch off

Amp LP Filter:
Mode/Slope - switch in the middle for 12db
Filter Freq - Set the low pass to 80hz and down.

Amplifier Input Section:
Input Voltage - swtich to High(I think )
Input Sens. - Set the dail to the 1-2 O'clock position.
Signal Sensing - Switch to off
