I read the sticky on upgrading my sub, and it said a JL 8W3-4 will fit perfectly. So I went to crutchfield, spent $200 on one, another $100 on a new amp.

Well, both items came yesterday, I took everything apart, and the sub doesn't fit. It's about half an inch too tall. What did you guys do to get it to fit?

don't have much tools =(

I'm gonna try grind down the metal round thing on the bottom

I couldn't find any. Tried subwoofer spacer, sub spacer 8" spacer, 8" sub spacer, everything I could think of. Samllest I found was a 10"

i made mine fit with longer screws.... the sub doesn't fit perfectly at first, but if you get at least 3 screws started you can tighten them down equally and it will slowly but surely squeeze into place...

if its too tall, the connector where you put the speaker wire on the sub is prolly hitting the basket inside the amp rack (its brown plastic). if u put it in slowly you will see where it hits, just dremmel out where its hitting until it fits. just do a little at a time.

I made a spacer out of wood in the end. Took me 3 hours because I had to DRILL the spacer out of the wood. Like little holes one by one, then took a hacksaw to it. Fits perfect now (2thumbs)

Now to fix the rattling inside the box...I hear it when I turn the volume past 14. I stuffed it with cotton and made sure everything was tight, dunno why it's still rattling
