Jeep Liberty Renegade vs. Saleen Explorer

Which one would you guys get?

a 98 saleen explorer with 60k, or a 2002/2003 liberty renegade with 10-30k?
anyone have any personal experience with either?

I am looking into buying an SUV and unfortunately newer body style tahoes and yukons are out of my price range and I dont fit in a pathfinder....other suggestions are welcomed.

I'd find out the exact build date of that Liberty if I were you. Chrysler has recalled around 438,000 of them built in 2002 and before March of 2003 due to suspension problems (wheels just falling off or just loosing control) and the parts to fix them are on national back order. http://consumeraffairs.com/news03/jeep_recall.html

i don't care if its a saleen or not, i would be hard pressed to buy any kind of explorer - very touchy reliability in those things.

kyle said the same thing but people i know havent had big problems with their explorers to the best of my knowledge....

but im looking on edmunds now at consumer reviews and eeeeeeeeew.......

but then again I have heard the same thing about jeeps, drivetrains at 60k are supposed to be timebombs, so maybe its just a matter of getting something with a factory warranty....

I don't know about the Liberty, but my old Cherokee was bulletproof. I beat the s*** out of that thing for over 100k and never had a problem.

seems like for every person who has a horror story about an explorer there is one who says they are rock solid.....and vice versa obviously....

well I'm a huge huge huge jeep fan...i own 3.....however if the saleen Exp you're talking about is the rare awd 5.0 then its a very nice suv...not much of an offroad vehicle but i was fairly impressed with its road handling abilities...mercury actually had more to do with its build than ford did...but as we know mercury and ford are hand in hand so...

rock out the saleen. there are a lot of people with reliable jeeps and explorers but I'd just have to rock saleen if it were my choice.

My uncle has an Explorer, I've ridden in it and it seems like a piece of s*** to me. The thing creaks and clunks on the road, not very comfy ride and you feel the bumps a lot. It's the Eddie Bauer one.

i like the lexus rx330 and acura mdx. those are the only suv's i'd consider
