"JDM"-style four-seam shift boots

Just yesterday my mom sent me a vinyl prototype of the e-brake book. Looks VERY nice. I'll get pics up either tomorrow or Fri. I just got a digital camcorder, but I still need to buy a memory stick... :)

As for the shift boot, the pattern is done, I'm just waiting for her to make a vinyl prototype for that as well. I want to make sure the pattern works before cutting up expensive leather. ;) Then I need to have a leather one made for final fitment by my MSP helper, who will then post pics of the installed product. Once that happens I'll register as an AMM and we'll be set! :)

I'm sorry...they just won't be ready by then, at least not in leather... :(

Here's a pic of a finished e-brake boot, in vinyl with blue thread:

And the stitching isn't crooked (sp?), it's just the angle of the shot... :)

This is a completely original design that incorporates an actual seam with colored top stitching.

Ok, I finally got the vinyl prototype shift boot. Here's a pic comparing my shorter boot to the stock MSP boot:

Right after I post this, I'm going to have a leather one made and sent to an MSP owner, who will then take pics of the boot installed...more to come...

I would have to say your custom shift boots and e-brake boot look much better than JUJUracing, theirs is cheap as s***, I tossed mine out As Soon as I got em, very disappointed.

it looks great. when everything's ready i'll take a leather shift boot w/silver stitching (regular size for protege5)

Oh, I didn't realize that people were wanting stock-sized as well. That's cool, I'll work on that design next. (Finals are over on Wed! :)) Does anyone know if the stock Pro5 boot is the same as the stock MSP boot? I imagine so, since the stock MSP boot itself is pretty tall--just as tall as my stock 626 boot, even though it has a shorter shifter...

i'm not sure that the stock MSP boot is the same size as the 5's.. the MSP does have the extended shifter

I may get in on this too.. I also didn't realize that the Juje Racing boots just had stitching up the sides when I bought them.. My mom sews quite a lot and laughed at me when I got them and couldn't believe I paid that much for them since she could have done that to my stock boot for the cost of a spool of thread..

Extended shifter? I've seen pics of the stock MSP shifter w/a stock boot, and the boot has TONS more slack than the Pro5 shifter/boot. The stock MSP boot would be big enough for the tall shifter in my 626, so it would seem that it would be the right size for the Pro5... (dunno)

BTW, my boots are not only going to be made with TOP quality leather, but the thread itself is industrial strength for upholstry. In fact, they will be sewn on an expensive upholstry-weight sewing machine, not your average Singer. :) So don't worry about not getting a quality product. ;)

when are you going to be selling these? have a website? i want that ebrake boot! possibly that shift boot as well

Vinyl boots are ready (in some thread colors--I'm still looking for a good orange), but I can't sell until I set up an AMM account. I won't do that for another two weeks or so when the leather boots are ready.

I don't have a website...I'm probably just going to organize a thread on this site with pics/descriptions/etc.

very very interested. vinyl with blue stitching... for "stock msp height" should be good for my B&M on a P5... I really just want the shifter boot, can't see how a e-brake boot would look right, but perhaps I just need to see.

Just for a bit of clarification if it's not obvious or known on shifter heights... Stock P5's and protege's have a roughly 2" extension on them which is what differentiates them from MSP's Many ppl remove the extension to lower their shifter which essentially puts it where the MSP's are. Aside from that, though they're the same. So a P5 with a kartboy ghetto-low shifter will be the same as kartboy on a MSP The kartboys are LOWLOW... If you try to go shorter, it may be an issue you might run into "suspension" problems where if you make it short enought to look right, it won't have any room to move. Actually, I guess on a B&M you've got just abou half the shifter throw of a stock MSP shifter as well, so in that dept, theoretically an even shorter boot could be used. But I'd say just doing one that'll fit a stock MSP cleanly is likely the easiest. IF ppl don't have a short shifter on their P5, they SERIOUSLY need to get one before they go spending their money on a boot. I swear it's like driving a bus. I'd never considered short shifters on previous cars, but after punching my slurpee a couple of times, and never managing to make it all the way to 2nd gear my B&M was my first mod...

I'd be interested in a leather boot with silver stiching for my MSP. Please let me know when you get things organized!
