JDM engine questions

I found an MP3 for sale for 7500. It only has 41000 mi and has a JDM engine swap, act stage 2 clutch, and several other mods. The original engine blew up because of a turbo kit being put on. the new engine has 36000 mi. How can you blow the engine in only 5000 mi? The car is in tempe AZ if any one can check it out. I'm really worried that the car has just been abused too much. It's an awesome price though.

I've also heard that the JDM engine won't get the true potential with the stock MP3 ECU? Anyone know more about this. I've been told that I can only get decent power NA if I use a stand alone unit. How much and which kind should I get?

well its really easy,
A. bump up the boost. with no management
B. Run the hell out of the car.. i mean off the shelf you push your car to the limit
C. no oil change
D. always reving the engine with no load.
E. using low grade fuel..
ETC ETC ETC
there are soo many ways blowing up a low mileage motor.

yup, got a link for this "jdm engine swaped mp3" i never seen a jdm motor swaped into the proteges...

I'd be skeptical of any "JDM swap" until you get some sort of documentation.

i think linux did the swap. also there will be no benefit with the us ecu.

The car is on autotrader.com. I asked for pics of the engine yesterday. I'll also ask to see if he has any documentation.

Talked to the owner yesterday and he has all the docs from the swap. Who did it, the miles on the JDM motor, miles on the car when it was done. He said it runs great but there's a check engine light on. Idle control solenoid. But it idles and runs fine, so that's why he's only asking 7500, cause he can't get the light to go out. It has to do with the way the wiring harness hooks up to the new engine.

Anyone in AZ, near Tempe that can test drive for me?

u should ask for a fax incase or have him send u a copy of it over email or something. just to make sure. anyone over the phoen can say that, then when you buy it u got nothing... make sure ur state allows this car before u buy it. some states have things against swaps.
