January 2009 Mazda5 Sales

[Here's the monthly sales report I've been doing, it just adds the historical monthly sales from 2007 to 2009]

North America Mazda released their January 2009 sales data and conspicuously absent was any specific data about any model outside of the Mazda3.

I sent them an email and they graciously responded with a spreadsheet breaking down the models.

1,340 Mazda5s were sold in January, down 21.1% from the January 2008.

For comparison Mazda sold 7,649 Mazda3s in January.

Here's the data I gathered from 2007 to the present.

Looks like sales is not affected by the economy.

Actually it looks like it is, although not as severely as many of the other auto manufacturers

I was gonna buy a Mazda 5, but the dealers weren't giving me enough off of an 08 (This was November/December time frame). Now they are offering 1000's off and calling me like everyday. But with the way that the economy is, I'm holding off and waiting. I'll run my Jeep into the ground and get a 5 or something else once it's dead and gone. I live in the Northeast and I'm glad I've had my Jeep this winter, it's been a while since we've had this much snow.

I was looking at new 5s in December at my local dealer but they wouldn't come down enough for me. I found a good deal on a used 2008 about 40 miles from my home and bought it. Now my local dealer still has the same 2009s sitting there as then. i bet you can get a good deal now.
