Jack Handle

Went out yesterday to a flat tire. That's a bummer!

Went to change to the donut, and couldn't figure how to work the jack handle - Bummer #2

Finally made it work using a screwdriver. - Bummer #3

Read the manual later and found that there's this funky combination of lugwrench and a flimsy bar that didn't seem to fit anywhere. After reading, it all seemed so simple.

Drove a Mazda6 for 2 years with no tire issues, so I don't know if this is a new arrangement, or just new to me.

If I'd been in a better mood, I'd have taken a pic so you guys could see how ludicrous a CX-7 looks on a donut.(hand)

Oh, that sux.

The jack on the Ford Escape I ditched to get my CX-7 really sucked. It was very confusing to use.

Figure you just picked up a nail or something? Hopefully they can plug the tire.

The jack is a good one - It's deeply slotted for the lift point, so I wouldn't recommend using anything else. The operation is a simple one once you know what's going on with the handle arrangement. It's just not the kind of thing to try to figure out for the first time on the side of the road on a rainy night, if you know what I mean.

Tire repair was simple. Something small, that the air pressure blew right back out.

Nothing for my confidence in the Goodyears, though.

I believe that you're the first person in america to get a flat on a cx-7.
It can be your claim to fame.

I wanna see the pics!

I'll wear the badge with pride, but I'm not gonna put the donut back on to get a pic.

Have you any idea how wounded my pride was as I drove to the tire place with that thing on?

I took a little look at the spare tire area over lunch... it looks like the jack stows nicely in the spare tire "surround". It's a far cry from some cars where you can get the jack out when you need to use it, but you'll never get it tucked back in the same way again.

There are also some nice little spaces to stash some things, in addition to the spare tire well itself.

Flat...
