So - I leased mine - not sure what you all think about that but I had to because I just had to.

So - I want more from the hatchback 3 then it comes with, but because it is a lease - I am not sure how much I can really play with...

what do you think? or have already done???

thanks,

Manyak

You could do an Umnitza SRI. That's easy to undo.

Sorry but I guess you can call me a NEWB when it comes to fixing up my 3. I am not sure what a Umnitza SRI is.

I know that I want my 3 to go faster and save a bit more gas - top speed i have reached is about 108 - 110 - and damn once it gets to 100 the higher 100's take a long time to get to.

I don't really / can't mess with the face too much (it's a lease) but I heard that I can put an intake in it - and maybe reconfigure some of the computer aspects (chip it)??

I really just want to make it quicker - it is an automatic with the M option.

Thanks,

Manyak

An Umnitza SRI is an intake (Short Ram Intake).

Do a search on this forum and you'll find a dozen or so references to it.

The car's top speed is computer-limited to 118 mph, so you won't get beyond that.

There are currently no aftermarket computer mods available, unless you go with a complete stand-alone unit like a Haltech. That's nothing that a newb could tackle.

Are there places where things like the Haltech get installed - if it is stand alone, it may be easy to uninstall because of the lease issue...

Why havent there been any computer mods available yet? Is that normal?

Thanks for the help,

Manyak

With a haltech you are messing around with the cars CPU, not what you want to be doing with a lease. The best thing would be a plug-n-play system from someone like superchips. You basically plug it in and push a couple buttons and vioala! Unfortunately there are none that are available right now. Supposedly Draxas is working with SCT (Superchips) to develop one. Also keep your eye out for other companies such as Diablo, Jet or Unichip. If you want, go ahead and find these companies and send them e-mails showing your interest. The more requests there are, the more likely they will go into production.

installing a haltech requires hacking up the wiring harness. not a good plan if you need to return this vehicle.

Thanks everyone...I ordered the Umnitza SRI and it should arrive tomorrow - but then there is the whole installation question/challenge - I hope I don't phuk it up too bad!

Peace,

It'll take you 10 minutes. 15, tops.

prob a bit more then that... there were no directions when i got mine... and if he is a first timer... don't be afraid to ask, but pretty much just use some common sense...

not really

some people honestly live by "OWN things that appreciate in value, LEASE/RENT things that depreciate"

Umnitza Intake is IN!

I installed my Umnitza SRI intake yesterday - only took a newB like me 2.5 hours to do it but it is in...i think!!

Here are some pics of the job and the left over parts - please let me know how good/bad of a job i did!!

Anyone know what that KL 47 thing does - it is just floating around -

And...there is this slight whistle that seems out of place when I drive around 65 or 70 MPH - you know, when you try to keep the constant speed but are not climbing the revs - then you need to go faster, so there is this slight whistle between the revs jumping up - normal?

Peace,

Manyak

I like that carbonfiber look. But does it go faster? How's the driving experience? Smoother accelleration from start?

Sure is pretty, though.

I had leased a 2003 V6 Mustang and I was able to mod it anyway I wanted as long as it didn't void the warranty. I put GT Dual Exhaust w/ x-pipe, Mac CAI, New TB on and they didn't seem to have a problem w/ me doing that. I think you have to stay behind the cats or behind headers to not void warranty on exhaust, not sure which it was.

I, however, Diablo chipped it to get away from the speed limiter of 120mph and rev limiter. (I don't like being restricted - course, I only went 140 a few times) They probably wouldn't have liked to see that at all. But you could do catback exhaust I'm sure.

As far as the idea of "why would you mod it... not worth it if it's leased", I say put your money into it, it's definately worth it if it makes you want to drive the car more while you have it.

actually that is prob a bad thing. the more you drive it the more miles you put in it. the more miles you put in it the quicker you use your allotted miles. the more miles you drive over, the more is going to cost you at lease end.
