So for the past 2 or 3 days my car has been leaking something, and with the asphalt it has had a green tint to it, so i thought it was coolant, but i never had time to ever take it in, so i just kept checking the coolant levels, no drop in the levels all week. So i take my car in this morning, to my local shop that is to get it looked at. Once i got a better look at it, it was a silver liquid with an oily base to it. And even better news (note sarcasm) it is coming from my transmission. The guy at the shop said that i will probably be needing a new transmission, and he also said that the silver in the oil could be metal shavings. Does anyone have any clue what the problem could be?? I have no issues with driving, the only thing that has happened is that the tranny locked up at a month ago, twice in one week. Also, i am curious if you think that mazda will give me s*** about it considering the mods in my sig.

Well, I feel for you. But anytime you use the phrase "tranny" and "locked up" in the same statement and didn't do anything about it, trouble was being asked for.....

Oh, and I can safely assume that by modifying your drivetrain (i.e. cams for that there engine), you can kiss a drivetrain warranty goodbye....(if you had any remaining).

Personally, if you have all those speed parts, then take it to a Mazda Speed Shop or import knowledgable shop. Get a new tranny that is built right/better...

oh yea, also the fact that they have to proove that the cams directly caused my tranny to be shredding up metal, which i highly doubt, but i figure they will throw some b.s. in my face about how it did

if u get any bull s*** from them then get a lawyer it will cost less than a tranny and u will win.
The only thing i see them pointing a finger at is ur gc's. But good luck peace,
Zane

let us know when you find the FOR SURE prob. does the car even run now? what does it do?

car runs fine, doesn't do anything out of the norm, just leaks fluid. The tranny works fine as well, i mean it is still smooth, and doesn't lock up. Mazda said keep driving at a minimal. Also the fluid is leaking right onto my exhuast, and it fills the inside with horrid smells.

also, i don't believe that cams have anything to do with the drivetrain. I talk to some car guys and they backed up what i thought, and that is the drivetrain is completely seperate from the engine. The drivetrain consists of basically your transmission, gears, clutch, flywheel, etc. It is completely different from the engine itself, so therefore i should still have my drivetrain warranty

I think the yellow calipers are gonna get you screwed over, better use some paint thinner:)

its because mazda trannys blow, get an old rx-7 tranny, itll stand up to some power

Well I personally think that Mazda should cover it. The metal shavings is an issue, same with the liquid burning in the exhaust. First off, if there is metal shavings in the fluid, that means that there is friction inside and that could lead to catastrophic faliures. In other words bye bye tranny. As for the liquid burning, the fumes could be toxic and something could happen, i.e. the fumes knock you out while driving. Both situations sound extreme, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

I think you are having the same problem as i did before." If it is the same problem, then you are leaking clutch fluid. also it smells very disgusting(pukey)

clutch fluid. ok, so if it was that, its not a big deal?

Actually it is a big deal, b/c there is a line running through your clutch line and if it is leaking fluid.. Guess what? your cluctch will be torn/smoked if kept driving like the way it is, and then when your clutch goes out if it hasn't been taken care of, the dealer will try and say that you have been speed shifting the car, "that's what i got told by the damm A** rep's. Also my gear's were out as well, it wouldn't go into gear except 3rd neutral and 4th. Not only that when you put it in 3rd/ 4th/ neutral they were all the same gear's taking off. So then since they didn't want to cover the car, I had to order a new Clutch and Flywheel. Which the Cluctch and flywheel was the Problem at first, after they installed the ACT clutch and Indigo #9 aluminum flywheel from SRmotorsports which is where i ordered from, They had the car on the rack trying the gear's out and it wouldn't go into 5thgear, they took everything apart and found another problem with the car, it was the tranny. So since i paid for the clutch and flywheel they paid for the new Tranny and supposely gonna give me my money back for the Clutch and flywheel i bought outta my own pocket. I hate when they see a fast nice looking car, and when the car is taken into maintenence"they assume the car was beaten to death, meaning the driver has been speedshifting or racing the car. I hate A**holes rep's like that.
