It felt so good!

Okay, you guys are a bunch of perverts. You came to this thread just because of the title. Oh well. Enjoy.

Here is my story of someone having Protege envy

I took a friend of mine around car shopping yesterday because he does not have anything for transportation. He was a truck driver so he didn't need a vehicle. We went to just about every car lot in Orlando. We ended our day at a Ford dealer.

I pulled up and parked and the salesmen were all standing out there. A guy walked up and introduced and actually had the nerve to ask me if I was going to trade my P5. (At a Ford Dealership) Ha, Ha! Told him no and he said that it is a very nice car and we went on our way looking through the cars on the lot. We find our way back to the showroom and there was another salesman talking to the Used Car manager and asking him how much did they take the MP5 in for trade and what were they going to sell it for on the used lot because he had a buyer. It was only sitting there like 15-20 minutes!

I just smiled, walked to my car got in and drove away.

I would love to know what the salesman told the "buyer", and the look on his face seeing that his next sale was not there anymore.

Sorry for the long post but I was smiling all the way home knowing I have a car that people want, and don't have, but one that sits in my garage every night!

ain't it great! :{D I know the feeling.....I am out on vacation in New Hampshire....I have seen VERY few proteges....and NO OTHER P-5 since we got here...yet as I drive around...I see a LOT of people checkin out the car.....makes you feel good KNOWING you made the right choice....

DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.....it makes a difference.

That's a great story. These cars really are noticeably nicer than so many others. That used car guy was probably pissed!

Hey Nuke, hope you're enjoying your vacation and enjoy the rarity of P5's up there. Houston seems to have discovered our cars!! I've had mine for a couple of months and really haven't seen too many until this week. I've seen six different P5's in Southwest Houston in the past four days. We need to get a club going or something.

(Note to any Tuning companies checking our board...of those six P5's I saw, four had aftermarket parts on them! Two had rims, and one of those was lowered, a third car had an exhaust and the fourth had some pinstriping. Couldn't tell about CAI's or anything else internal)

I am enjoying it.....its REALLY going to be hard to go back to work after the 4th of July weekend!!! lol

and I think our cars have a better following in the south for some reason.....on the drive from Texas to New England I only saw three and only two since I have been up here.....

Ya know Tex....WE are going to have to hook up one of these weekends.....if nothing else....are you planning to hit the get together at San Jac park on the 20th?

Yeah I've been thinking the same thing and especially since I am about this close to getting an Injen and a B&M and probably could use your guidance on installs since you've been there. I'm tired of the crappy 1st to 2nd shift, and ANYTHING that gets cooler air into our engines in Houston has to be worth it.

What get together at San Jac??? Haven't seen anything about it? What am I missing?? Is there a thread?

I still feel great because I bought my P5, and three months later my best friend gave in to his envy and bought one for himself.

We test drove a Golf GTI and were disapointted with the spartan plasticky interior, fickle handling and rough ride. Turbo be damned, it was not worth the $21k sticker tacked on to it. And how about actually adding some legroom. This coming from a 5'5" guy....

Test drove a Lancer - sucked. The $15k Civic and Corollas weren't worth it, and in the end he got a nicely equipped Mazda for under 16k. Within minutes of showing up at the VW dealer, three salesreps came out to circle my car to find the real meaning of Fahrfurnugen. Must have been the yellow paint.

It is nice to hear all these envy stories, because here in richmond bc, it is a zoom country. i see at least 4 yellow p5s everyday... ppl are not as curious about my baby, but when i drove all the way down to seattle... boy, it was a different story.

I was visiting a friend in Seattle, he has a midnite blue, i parked my vivid yellow in his underground parking spot. He later told me that at least 3 neighbours had asked him about his "new" car. It feels good to be noticed.

This isn't all a coincidence...it really is one of the best cars in its class and maybe a little into the next class ;) everyone chose wisely

Great storieshope to hear more.

I just got back from a 6,000+ mile trip from Biloxi MS to the Seattle area and back through the Rockies, and it occured to me that maybe many of those who think P5's are "down on power" live at some altitude - Our car really was pretty gutless above 4,000 feet, but resumed it's "sporty nature" once we got back to near sea level. Man, I really pity those of you who live up above 3 or 4 thousand feet . . . .

Don

Well yeah a GTI is nice and powerful but in my opion:
Base GTI
+ Rims (stock rims are not that good)
+ Extra frills to make it look good (aftermarket)
+ Extra stuff to make yours stand out from the other 25,000 our there

is more expensive than:

Base Mazdaspeed

Yes our little cars are catching on fast. They are great looking cars and people are noticing. They are popping up all over the place here in the Twin Cities, (Mpls/St. Paul). I've been watching closely since I bought mine about 4 months ago. Mine is yellow. My brother bought an identical yellow one the same day. I pass a silver one going the other direction every day when I go to work. I pull into the Greek Deli I go to for lunch quite often and I see a blue one there almost every day. I spoke with the owner who is a very nice guy that I have gotten to know. I said it must belong to someone who works in the little strip mall there. He said yes it does - it's his! LOL I've seen one other red one, and one black one.
Then it hit me. One of my best friends is looking for a new car. He wanted something sporty looking that was fun to drive. It had to be reasonably priced, get good gas mileage, and have enough room to carry all of his gear. He works as a keygrip I think it is called. He sets up lighting for commericials, movies, etc. I knew he was looking for a new car but wasn't sure how soon he wanted to buy. Someone slap me for not thinking of him sooner. Anyway he saw my yellow P5 a week ago when we went to another friends house and was quite impressed. I let him drive it. Guess who was at the Mazda dealer the next day? He's now waiting for his new blue P5 to come in.
It is actually a great thing that our cars are catching on so well. I have seen a few people on this site complain that they are no longer the only ones in their area with a P5. But please trust me on this - good sales on P5s is good for Mazda. And what is good for Mazda is good for us. Peace all. :)
