Issues with car lighter

I have put 500 miles on my MSP and I love it, but one thing is bothering me. I don't think my cigarette lighter is working. I pulled it out right away so i could plug in a cell phone charger, and I wasn't getting any power. At first I thought it was a bad charger, but then when I put the radar detector in( just to test it before its hard wired),and it didnt work either. Then i tried the lighter and that also didnt work. I also noticed it seemed like the metal casing that actually holds the coil slips out almost all the way.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Id say its prob a bad connection. I dont belive it has its own fuse but i could be wrong. Get a tester and check the wires in the back of it when the car is on. You might have to tear your car apart to get to it. Looks like your still in your warranty so take it to the dealer (expect to wait way to long for it).

the car is on during all of this testing your doing right? becuase i know in my P5 the cig lighter ONLY works when the car is on...

nono smoke is not for this car
dont worry

The whole cigarrete lighter assembly has no power going to it. so no cell phone chargers or radar detector's

When i first got my P5, i bought a radar detector, and it didn't work. So i took it to the dealer, and the jackass came back to me wanting to tear apart the dashboard and re-wire the cig lighter. Needless to say, i made an appointment for a week in advance, i got home, looked at the fuses, and it was blown! The idiot works for Mazda, and didn't even check my fuses!

Does anyone know which fuse protects the cigarette lighter? The manual is pretty vague ...

trust me, it's got a fuse. With some of the weird things people plug in nowadays, it needs to have a fuse. When I pull out my interior fuse panel, I don't see a fuse for the outlet though, maybe it's one of the main fuses under the hood? Stealership will know.
