Is Washer Fluid with De-Icer safe to use?

I'm from the South and I've never driven any further north than Louisville, KY before. Next Wednesday, I'm driving to Pittsburgh to spend 12 days with my best friend and help him with some upgrades on his new house. I learned how to cut and hang crown moulding when I was a teenager and his $390k house doesn't have it in a single room. The best estimate he got from a contractor was over $1200....or I can do it for the cost of materials ($100-$125). I'm a pretty good friend! =)

Anyway, in preparing my CX-9 for the trip, I picked up a gallon of Prestone Washer Fluid with De-Icer that won't freeze until -27 degrees. Since I bought it, I started wondering if it is completely safe for the system? I can't help but think of anti-freeze and how corrosive certain things can be (and how rubber hoses/lines such as the ones that deliver the fluid to washer heads are subject to damage). Is my caution warranted or should I just use the stuff and forget about it.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I'm sure the stuff you bought is fine but I live just outside Buffalo NY and grew up even farther north than that and have never bought anything but the cheap blue stuff and never had issues:

I tried some of the de-icer stuff once and wasn't happy with how much residue it left on my car.

I keep the blue stuff on hand all the time, so I think I'll just top it off with that and take the other one back. I'm hoping that I avoid any nasty weather while I'm in Pittsburgh because I'm already freaking out about the idea of road salt...so if the de-icer leaves a residue, I'll skip it! I'll be parked in a heated garage overnight and most of the time during the day, so I think I'll be fine.
