Is this a good price...

Depending on where you're located, people will say 'it's great!' or 'it's horrible!'

Prices vary greatly by region...I paid $19000 for my 2003.5 MSP in NJ in August, and feel I got a decent deal, people have paid a lot more around here.

But I've seen posts claiming brand new 03.5's for like $16500!

Don't forget about tax, title, registration, etc. costs....they add up quickly.....

I'm in San Diego California, and yeah with tax and license it'll end up around 18700 and this is a brand new model with 11 miles on it.

Don't haggle over a couple of dollars, that's a great price.

Do you like the car? Does it fit your budget? If so, then yes it's a good price.

the answer is yes and yes :D you got a good point, I guess I'll pick it up tomrrow.

Sorry if that came accross rude, it's just that I sell cars and work with internet customers and when people talk themself out of a deal just because they want to "ask around" or something, then no one wins. They are selling the car for a Great Price, I got mine for $20,000 plus fees a few months ago and it's worth every penny.

Also, sometimes after people "shop around" they feel like no matter what the deal is that some how the dealership is Effen them. That's not true, this is a mini deal for your poor sales guy who busted his ass and took a lot of lip to get you that deal... just to have you walk away...

Get in there and buy it, be happy and enjoy the ride. It's a car, not an investement. you will not be making money it will be worth less when you sell it. Consider it a consumable item, you drive it and you are getting your money's worth. If you don't buy it then you suck.

(you don't really suck, but if you don't buy it apologize to the salesperson for jacking him off please)

man i gave the sales people some s*** i turned down giving them 1500 down. paying off the mp5 and a 300 a month payment subachad is right.. maybe i should buy it

no worries, I didn't think you were rude. you make some good points.

That price sounds good to me...

MSRP = $19,5xx or so

- rebates of $2500

= Price after rebates of $17,0xx which is approx. what you just wrote...

Some people get them for a little bit less, but in my case it was due to the $500 graduate rebate. That helped a LOT.

Also, keep in mind, that they charge tax on the purchase price of the car (in this case, it would be the $19,xxx price) and THEN they take off the rebates...so it ends up being a bit more than you would think at first, but it's not that much of a difference.

yea taxes are insane if i buy the msp it will be like $22,xxx after the loan term. at 300 or so a month...

Do not forget there is $1K dealer cash on this car also. At least there was.....

secondly for the guy who said he's a salesman....I used to sell cars also. I use to sell mazda and ford. That "mini deal or house deal" you refer to is a gift. Typically only $100 and all they have to do is entertain the customer while the managers write everything up. I got house deals all the time. the manager came up to me and said, write this up and we'll give you $100. How hard he must've worked for his mini deal....(rolls eyes). As someone who used to sell cars I have no sympathy for car salesman. Their entire pay plan is based on how much money they get from you. I have no problem fighting for evey penny I can get. I think every car should only have $100 profit. That money would go to the salesman and the dealership would only get paid based on number of units sold, not people ripped off. Think of how many cars would be on the road if you could get your $20K car for $15K and KNOW FOR A FACT that you got the best deal possible and everyone got paid FAIRLY. Now thats how you buy a car.

That is a good price. Invoice on the car is something like $19,547. Less the $2,500 rebate, its $17,047.

You're therefore paying barely over invoice.

There is an additional $500 rebate for college if you're enrolled or maybe a recent grad.

.

Dealer cash went away when the rebate went up. Check edmunds.com, they will have the dealer cash and rebates available spelled out.

Let me put it this way...any price that's less than what most of us die hard's paid when it was first coming out and we thought it would sell like the MP3 did (which in my case was 23k out the door....yeah...I'd never thought that I could negotiate on it) is a good price. Sorry, that's one big icky run-on, but you get the point, neh?
