OK my dealer said they would order and install the mazdaspeed exhaust for my 03P5 for $250. Is this a good price??? Also is the exhaust worth it?? THe guy also told me that products off the mazdaspeed protege would not fit my P5 is this true??? He told me he could get them though.

Sorry I mean the mazda sport exhaust that is available for the protege5...he said that the mazda speed parts won't fit

I have been reading this site for a while and I haven't seen anything realy stated that the parts wouldn't fit. I know some of the parts are only available on an exchange basis. However, whey I was talking to my deal (they realyd didn't seem to know anymore than me about it) didn't say anything about them not fitting.

they are probably talking about the exhaust...an exhaust from the MSP or MP3 won't fit a P5. the rear end of the exhaust for MSP/MP3s is longer so the tip will stick out if mounted on a P5

I have it and like it, also paid like 195 or something from mazdastuff.com and installed it in like 10-15 minutes. all you need is a torque wrench, and maybe some ramps or jack and stands. It was easy though, they included a new gasket too.

I would suggest buying the muffler of your choice and finding a shop to bend the piping for you. I got a whole cat-back with muffler for under $250. Plus you can have them make it how you want. Resonator, no resonator, 21/4 piping, 2/12 piping, cat, no cat (only some shops will do this) If you don't live in CA then you don't even need the large cat under the car. Mine came with it for some reason, but I had it removed. I had heard that only cars designated for stringent emmissions testing would have the additional cat. Maybe I heard wrong. Anyway, the deakership is always going to rip you off, so anything you can do yourself will save money for other mods!!
