Is this a good price for a 02 Protege5? Edit: Bought a 02 Yellow 5!!!

This weekend, I'm going to go look at this red 2002 Protege5. It has 29K miles and power everything. The dealer wants $11,300 for it and I don't know if that's too high or not. I found another one, it has 49K miles on it and the dealer wants $9,888. Which one do you think is the better deal?

Edit: Well, yesterday I drove home my baby. Its a yellow 02 Protege5 with 25K miles for $11,500. Wooohoooo!!!!

$11,300 seems a bit high. I just got a 2003 Red MP5 5speed with 40miles on it and all the bells and whistles for 12,400. You can probably talk them down some. Good Luck

Does it come with a warranty? I just bought mine (october) for 12,900 with 26,000 miles on it. It has power everything w/ automatic and CD player. (no sunroof(shrug) ). The good thing is its warranty is 100000 miles and the time frame ends in 2009.

I feel like I did ok. But I will try to do better next time.

Where did you get that kind of warranty? Factory is 36K or 3 years.

Was it new? How is it that everyone here seems to have paid about $6K less then MSRP for the new vehicle. I mean i spent quite a while fighting with a dealer and still couldn't get near that

well they r trying to get rid of the remaining protege's to make more room to sell the 3's so they r selling them at below dealer cost in most places...i could get one here for around 10-11 new with all options..or dx,lx as low as 9's..even the MSP's are selling in the 15's here

Well, i got it 2 weeks ago and the price is definitely at some 3-4K under MSRP (plus all the taxes of course, ours are pretty high) - but still this nowhere near 10 grand...may be its a location thing?

don't go thru a dealer.. they'll rip ya off.. go thru a private party..
i got a 2002 base model with manual trans in great condition with 13k miles in january of 2003 for $11,500 (private party of course)
