Is this a Deal????

Hi, My name is Art. I have been surfing this board for the last 3-4 weeks. I have read most of the post here. The reason I don't have a MSP is that I haven't be able to get a good deal with my trade-in which is a 2000 Suabru Impreza 2.5RS. A dealership offered me a MSP (yellow) for $17,300 but its a dealer demo car and it has less than 5000 miles. I'm might offer them $16,500 for it! What do you guy's think of this deal is it worth it? I can get a new one for $18,125. Let me know what you guy's think!

Thanx,
Art :)

What's up Art, welcome to the site.:D

I'd take the new one for 18.1 any day. Paid 20.5 for mine and never regreted it. I'd be a little hesitant on buying one with that kind of mileage, who knows who's driven it. Especially for only 800$ more, in my mind it's a no-brainer.

I always liked the 2.5's when I was in high-school, and was really sad when Subaru changed the impreza to the bug-eyed monster.:) I think liking the 2.5 is part of the reason that I love the looks of the msp so much.

Hello there. Well considering you're in Texas you might be able to get away with doing a turbo conversion to that and reaping much greater benefits than what the MSP will offer you. It will be cheaper too.

I got some hardcore Impreza Reps if you wanna get some consult.

We're in the process of building up two 98-99 Impereza2.5RS as well. WE have a turbo kit and so forth that will allow you to do some seriously adequate power. I'm assuming you have AWD. If so then I would stick with your application. It's a much more modifiable platform and we can easily make it eat a WRX GDA alive.

id prob just try to sell the suby for cash down payment.
dealers hate trades they might be able to give you a better price
if yer like ..."how bout i just give ya 3k down" or something

Welcome aboard Art.
My last car I had was a '99 Subaru RS. I traded that in for my Yellow MSP and just rolled over the equitity from what I had on the Sube. I only got 9k for it because the wreck I had showed up on carfax. But I still had $3300 towards the MSP. I would go with the newer MSP, demo car was probably beat to crap and back with all the test drives done in it. But thats up to you.

I know when I test drove the MSP the dealer let me rag it out, there is now way that I would have bought that exact car!!!

Just my opinion

5000 miles for a 'demo' car is quite alot. You should spend no more than 15k on a car with that many miles. It actually should be counted as a program car and you should get a used car price.

Thanx for the feed back! I don't want to Turbo my Subie, because I would always have some kind of issue with it. I want something that would still smoke most honda's and what not but, still get me to school the next day and not have to worry about it not starting. This is the reason why I'm buying a factory Turbo car. I'm not looking into breaking 12's with this car (if I was I would buy an SRT-4), maybe high 13's at the most or low 14's would be fine! I'll let you guy's know what happens, I should know in about a week or 2 if I get this sweet ride!

cool cool man, hope u get the car, youll enjoy it. but those times u want arent gonna be too easy, but we'll see.

dealer miles usually suck...... people putting harsh miles on them.... lots of burnt clutch and lots of stop and go driving...... I'd spend the couple grand more and grab one with 3 miles on it or something :)

dude getting in the low 14's is pretty easy and not too expensive

mines running in the high 14's with less than $400 put into it.

As long as you have a steady job and some work ethic you can get into the low 14's with no problems

my $0.02....

sell the subie on your own....you will get more (should)
don't pay 17 for a demo. i paid 16.5 out the door for a slightly hail damaged car that they fixed with PDR (paintless dent repair)
very minor and i got them to 16.5 out the door.

work um over some more. you can get lower.
